This package is for applicants who want hands-on help developing their law school personal statement and one supplemental essay, from the early strategy stage through to a polished final draft. We will start with a conversation about your background, experiences, reasons for pursuing law, and what you want an admissions committee to understand about you by the end of the application. The first step is usually not writing. It is deciding which parts of your story are actually worth building the application around, and which themes will make the strongest case for you. From there, I will work with you on your personal statement from brainstorming and structure through multiple rounds of revision. We will look closely at the story you are telling, whether the essay gives the reader a clear sense of who you are, and whether each section is actually doing useful work. The goal is not simply to produce polished prose, but to make sure the essay leaves the admissions reader with the right impression of you. We will also develop one supplemental essay together. Depending on the school, that might be a statement of perspective, a “Why X” essay, or another optional prompt. We will think strategically about what the supplemental should add to the application rather than simply repeating material that already appears elsewhere. Throughout the process, I will give you detailed edits and comments directly on your drafts, as well as broader feedback on structure, positioning, and content. We will also talk through the reasoning behind the larger changes so that you understand what we are trying to achieve rather than simply accepting edits. I will keep an eye on the application as a whole as well. Your personal statement, supplemental essays, résumé, and broader profile should reinforce one another without all saying exactly the same thing. For some background on me, I studied at Princeton, was admitted to Harvard Law School, and am now completing my doctorate at Oxford as a Marshall Scholar. I have also worked professionally in admissions consulting, helping applicants think through both the strategy and writing behind highly selective applications. My role is not to manufacture a story for you or make the essay sound like something an admissions consultant wrote. It is to help you identify the strongest version of your own case for admission and make sure the writing communicates it clearly, convincingly, and in your own voice.
