Throughout my career, I have held leadership roles at top companies such as Bill.com, Intuit, LinkedIn, and PayPal. At Bill.com, as VP of Product Management, I played a key role in driving the company’s revenue growth by over 10x to >$1B ARR. These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of what it takes to lead with impact, drive innovation, and build high-performing teams. I hold an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Hi, I'm James. I served in the U.S. Navy before attending business school. During business school, I explored the startup path, built a company, and pitched to venture capitalists. Along the way, I also went through interview processes for almost every role you can think of: strategy and operations, software engineering, product management, and venture capital. One fun fact from that journey was receiving offers from Palantir for both the Deployment Strategist and Forward Deployed Software Engineer roles. I also received offers from Anduril Industries, Scale AI, AWS, Microsoft, and several other companies. Post-MBA, I joined Palantir as an FDE. Now I'm at a startup, and I'm having a blast. After navigating so many career decisions, interviews, and competing opportunities, I've learned a great deal about finding the right path. I have 5-years of full-time work experience in financial services, particularly private equity and investment banking. Since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, I have coached a number of younger alums and current students, particularly those interested in finance, consulting and healthcare. While at Penn, I majored in Health and Societies, with a concentration in Healthcare Markets and Finance and a Minor in Healthcare Management in Wharton. Additionally, I also obtained three full-time offers from Goldman Sachs within the Asset Management Division (Institutional Sales and Third-Party Wealth Sales) and Healthcare Investment Banking, and I obtained various internship offers including sophomore internships at Citi Bank and GS and Junior Internships at GS, Citi and Morgan Stanley. I typically work with people who are at certain career junctions, either applying to internships, deciding what they want to do full-time and recruiting for post Investment Banking roles. Many of the people that I have worked with have gone on to do investment banking internships / full-time, asset management internships / full-time, successfully done on-cycle or off-cycle recruiting for private equity investing roles or IR, or VC.
