I’m a fourth-year dental student at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry with firsthand experience navigating the DAT, dental school admissions, and the challenges of dental school itself. I scored a 23 on the DAT and understand how overwhelming the preparation and application process can feel. I love helping students break big goals into manageable steps, whether that means creating a DAT study plan, working through difficult concepts, strengthening an application, or preparing for interviews. My goal is to provide practical, personalized guidance while being approachable, encouraging, and honest about what it takes to succeed.

I'm a second-year periodontics resident at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, and I was accepted into every dental school I applied to — including my top choice. As the first person in my family to pursue dentistry, I built my own roadmap through the application process, from AADSAS and TMDSAS to interviews and secondary essays, without a mentor to guide me. That experience is exactly why I do this now: I know what the process looks like from the applicant's side, and I know what it takes to stand out. Beyond my own admissions track record, I bring a clinician's perspective that most application coaches don't have. During dental school, I served as president of several student organizations and received multiple scholarships and awards, and I matched into a highly competitive periodontics residency. I've spent years advising pre-dental students on everything from personal statements and secondary essays to interview prep, and I understand not just what makes an application compelling on paper, but what dental schools are actually looking for in a future clinician. I'm here to help you build the same kind of application — one that reflects both who you are and who you're becoming.

Having gone to dental school myself and experienced first hand the challenges of the pre-dental/application experience, I have always felt passionate about imparting my knowledge unto the next generation of dentists. I co-founded/co-directed a pathway program for high school/college students interested in dentistry for over 12 years. Additionally, I have individually mentored/coached countless students on their journey to dental school and been a part of the admissions committee decisions at my institution. I have conducted admissions interviews for many years and am part of larger national committees involving admissions exams. I feel confident that I can help pre-dental students achieve the dreams with less anxiety and ambiguity. Most pre-health advisors at universities cater to pre-med students which greatly do a disservice to pre-dental students seeking an alternative, more nuanced path. I'm happy to fill that gap for you!

As a current Harvard DMD candidate and private tutor, I have a deep understanding of the dental school admissions process and what it takes to succeed. My experience as an admissions counselor and tutor at College Choice Counseling and DAT Bootcamp has allowed me to help students excel in all areas of the Dental Admission Test (DAT), build strong school lists, plan resume-building activities, craft a personal statement, nail their interviews, and everything in between. I have helped dozens of students accomplish their dreams and I can help you reach yours too! For those curious about my application cycle: I applied to 11 schools, received interview invites to 10 schools, interviewed at 8 programs, and was accepted to 6 programs--including Harvard (where I now attend), UCLA (as an out-of-state applicant) with a Dean's scholarship, and UT Health Houston (as an out-of-state applicant) with their "Glenn T. Housholder Competetive Scholarship", which meant I would receive in-state tuition in addition to the scholarship money they were offering me.

With a perfect 4.0 GPA and a 99th percentile DAT score from my undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, I understand what it takes to excel academically and stand out in applications. Entering dental school at the age of 29 - after already going through medical school, two Master's programs, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering - I am driven to help guide those who are striving for a career in dentistry at any level. Serving in various leadership roles at my dental school and within state and national dental associations, I feel equipped to help prospective students prepare for and select the best dental program for them.

During my 3rd and 4th years of college, COVID-19 years, I engaged in countless hours of shadowing, service, and studying for the DAT. Additionally, my wife and I were lucky to have a child born two months before finals in the second to last semester of our undergraduate studies. With my wife’s support, I was able to surpass my goal on the DAT and we both graduated from BYU-Provo within 4 years of starting. I applied to 12 dental schools, interviewed at six, and was accepted and offered a position at all six schools beginning in the fall of 2022. I am currently a first-year dental student attending the University of Utah School of Dentistry. I have founded a Public Health Club and am a member of the Pediatrics and Business clubs among participating in a handful of others. Additionally, I am currently working on becoming an AHEC Scholar and am working to figure out a schedule to graduate with a dual degree MPH/DDS with the Dean of my school.
