From the outset, I want to make it clear that I am beyond impressed with the services provided by Alex Southmayd. After working with Alex, I solidified the skills necessary to score extremely well on this test. I was able to garner important test-taking strategies, key intricacies of the test, all while building my confidence to take this test. It is also important to note that I attempted to utilize several other test-prep services in the past, none of which come close to those provided by Alex. On test day, I scored well above the scores needed for all of the programs I am applying to (very competitive scores needed - clinical psychology PHD programs); and I am certain that is a result of Alex's teaching. Thank you very much - I would highly recommend working with Alex for anyone who wants to do well on the GRE (or other standardized tests!).

I took the GRE for entrance into an MBA program. When I started I was scoring in the low to mid 150s on both quant and verbal, and with the help of online resources and with my tutor Alex Southmayd, I was able to get my scores into the 160s on both quant and verbal. With respect to Alex, if I could sum him up in one word - amazing. He is incredibly personable, bright, funny, and everything you would want in a tutor. He is able to isolate your weak areas and work with you on developing strategies. I attribute my success to him, and would only recommend him to anyone looking to succeed at the GRE.

Alex Southmayd was fantastic. His strategies helped improve my GRE Quant score by 30 percentile points, my GRE Verbal score by 20 percentile points, and I scored in the 99th percentile on Analytical Writing. This is a testament to his fantastic teaching and help with guided study. I was skeptical for a long time that I could study to improve on these tests, so I was shocked to see so much improvement.

I worked with Alex Southmayd for a month of GRE quant tutoring. Alex was extremely clear and thorough in his explanations of different math concepts and strategies. He was also patient and encouraging during our sessions as I hadn't touched math in nearly a decade. My results speak to Alex's effectiveness as a tutor - I raised my quant score from 149 - 159. I directly attribute this improvement to my work with Alex.

I worked with Alex on GRE math. I learned how to quickly recognize problems, approach difficult graphs and wording, and form strategies for taking the GRE. MyGRE score improved significantly and I was ultimately accepted into an engineering graduate program at the University of Southern California. I highly recommend working with Alex.

I worked with Alex on GRE prep and he exceeded my expectations in every respect. Alex is able to skillfully teach the content and the strategies in a manner that is tangible for students to grasp, particularly for someone like myself being many years removed from the quantitative concepts.

I was referred to Josh by multiple friends and relatives who had great success with Josh and were admitted to T7 MBA programs. The common theme when speaking to every single referral was that Josh is a miracle worker and each person credited his work ethic and patience as a major reason why they did so well on their GMAT. I feel as though a written review for Josh isn't enough to convey how good of a tutor he is. If you're lucky enough to work with Josh, take advantage of his knowledge, and if you work hard, you will succeed. He is hands down the best tutor I've ever worked with.

Nirmal was very helpful and thorough. I took Manhattan GMAT classes and self studies including Official Guide books, but I was struggling to get to a score I was happy with. Nirmal really helped me focus on the areas that I needed help on, critical reasoning and reading comprehension especially, and I improved so much in a month and half. I also felt better studying on my own outside of tutor sessions, thanks to Nirmal. How to approach different question types, timing, etc. is different for everyone and Nirmal really helped me find my own pace and tactics to practice. He was very patient and thorough with each question I had and guided me to acheive the score I finally felt comfortable with. I appreciate all the effort and time Nirmal took to make sure that I understood the concepts tested and perform better each time -- even when I repeated my mistakes and my scores increased slowly. If you are on the fence, no need to look further and just go for it! I highly recommend Nirmal.

Josh initially came recommended by a friend who loved working with him. My experience was nothing short of exceptional. Josh not only taught the material well, but also held me accountable for doing my work. He also kept me confident. My score went up 50 (!) points in the very short time we worked together and I can honestly say he's a very big part of the reason I wound up getting accepted to every school I applied to (I ended up at Stanford). I would highly recommend Josh (and have already to several friends). He's as good as it gets.

Some background: I am an international student based in a Middle Eastern country with absolutely no quantitative background. The last time I took a math class was in high school, and I graduated high school 6 years ago. I decided that I wanted to take the GMAT and took a diagnostic test and scored an underwhelming 580. I signed up for an in-person private tutoring course by another well-known international prep company, and I was able to consistently hit the low 600s, but never past 650. Then I found Josh. Josh is a great tutor and will absolutely take you where you need to go with your quantitative skills. He makes himself available to all of his clients for questions, and even offers great insights and strategies that he has taken the time to figure out himself. He makes sure that you walk away knowing so much more about the exam than before. His emphasis on strategies is essential to any significant score improvement. His insight on sentence correction is also invaluable, and he did a great job walking me through the various approaches that made the verbal section very manageable for a non-native speaker like myself. In the weeks leading up to the exam, my GMATPrep scores ranged from 720-770, (With my highest Q at 50, and highest V at 47) and I finally took the test and scored a 730 (Q47/V42), which I am more than happy with. Definitely worth the money.
