I am a graduate of Harvard Business School (MBA) and Princeton University, and closely worked with the admissions team on crafting an overall admissions strategy. I served as the Co-Chief Admissions Ambassador at HBS, and was involved in meeting with applicants and answering questions. I also assisted with putting together The Harbus' admissions guide, which has a collection of essays from successful applicants. I have also given tours at the School of Engineering at Princeton. I've cracked the admissions code twice (once for undergrad, once for MBA) and spent 5+ years as an undergraduate admissions interviewer for UPenn, giving me rare insight from both sides of the process. Joe has worked in admissions consulting for 18 years, primarily in the MBA space with over 80% of his clients getting admitted to M7 and top 20 programs including HBS, Kellogg, Stanford, Fuqua, and Yale SOM (to name but a few). In the undergrad space, he has helped students gain acceptance into top programs including USC, UCLA, and Duke. Just since 2022, Joe’s MBA clients have received over $6 million in scholarship offers. He has worked with clients around the globe in industries ranging from the standard (consulting, marketing, accounting, nonprofit, etc.) to the nonstandard (tourism, video games, television, and academia). He has also worked with clients applying to MBA programs in Canada and Europe. As a second-year student at SOM, he was an admissions interviewer and student ambassador.

I've been building and investing in companies for the past decade. After graduating from Yale, I had a couple stints in consulting and global health before finding my way to startups. I started two companies, one a surplus food marketplace and the other in office management software. Neither was extraordinarily successful, but gave me a taste for helping companies go 0-1 and allowed me to meet some exceptional founders and builders. I started angel investing, realized I enjoyed investing/advising, and went to Wharton/Lauder with the intent of exploring venture capital (and to get better at Chinese). While in business school, I met Contrary and started working full time while still in my 2nd year. After graduating, I stayed on, became a partner 1.5 years in, and led deals in a number of great companies (Orchard Robotics, Nomic, Endeavor AI, etc.). I transitioned to a board partner/advisor role this past summer and have spent most of my time since helping build companies and continuing to angel invest. My angel portfolio includes companies like Ramp, Warp, Clara, Slingshot AI, and many others.
