With a Bachelor of Arts in Global Public Health from the University of Virginia, I have a unique perspective on the intersection of health and dentistry. With a background in research, shadowing, community service, and a strong passion for mentorship, I’m here to help you get into your dream dental school and highlight what makes you stand out. My experience as a Peer Academic Coach and Undergraduate Teaching Assistant has also equipped me with the skills to guide students through challenging coursework and application processes. I believe that everyone deserves to be a dentist, and I would be honored to help students get into school. I have coached 40+ pre-dental students from various backgrounds, helping them navigate the upcoming cycle. My background in Anthropology with Honors from Wayne State University, coupled with my active involvement in various student organizations, has equipped me with a unique perspective on crafting compelling applications. I have successfully coached numerous aspiring dental students, helping them navigate the competitive admissions process and secure spots at top dental schools. During my 3rd and 4th years of college, COVID-19 years, I engaged in countless hours of shadowing, service, and studying for the DAT. Additionally, my wife and I were lucky to have a child born two months before finals in the second to last semester of our undergraduate studies. With my wife’s support, I was able to surpass my goal on the DAT and we both graduated from BYU-Provo within 4 years of starting. I applied to 12 dental schools, interviewed at six, and was accepted and offered a position at all six schools beginning in the fall of 2022. I am currently a first-year dental student attending the University of Utah School of Dentistry. I have founded a Public Health Club and am a member of the Pediatrics and Business clubs among participating in a handful of others. Additionally, I am currently working on becoming an AHEC Scholar and am working to figure out a schedule to graduate with a dual degree MPH/DDS with the Dean of my school.

As a current Harvard DMD candidate and private tutor, I have a deep understanding of the dental school admissions process and what it takes to succeed. My experience as an admissions counselor and tutor at College Choice Counseling and DAT Bootcamp has allowed me to help students excel in all areas of the Dental Admission Test (DAT), build strong school lists, plan resume-building activities, craft a personal statement, nail their interviews, and everything in between. I have helped dozens of students accomplish their dreams and I can help you reach yours too! For those curious about my application cycle: I applied to 11 schools, received interview invites to 10 schools, interviewed at 8 programs, and was accepted to 6 programs--including Harvard (where I now attend), UCLA (as an out-of-state applicant) with a Dean's scholarship, and UT Health Houston (as an out-of-state applicant) with their "Glenn T. Housholder Competetive Scholarship", which meant I would receive in-state tuition in addition to the scholarship money they were offering me.

I bring over 14 years of experience in prehealth advising, helping students navigate the competitive admissions process for health professional programs, including dental school. As Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Academics and Global Engagement at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering and Chair of the Prehealth Committee, I have extensive experience guiding students through academic planning, prerequisite coursework, extracurricular development, application strategy, and preparing strong, well-rounded applications. Throughout my career at NYU and my time consulting for CUNY Hunter College, I have advised students pursuing careers in the health professions and written committee letters supporting their applications. For the past six years, I have also taught a formal course focused on the health professional school application process, helping students develop compelling personal statements, articulate their experiences, and prepare for interviews. My approach is personalized, strategic, and grounded in years of working directly with students to help them present their strongest candidacy to admissions committees.

Entering dental school at the age of 29 - after already going through medical school, two Master's programs, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering - I am driven to help guide those who are striving for a career in dentistry at any level. Serving in various leadership roles at my dental school and within state and national dental associations, I feel equipped to help prospective students prepare for and select the best dental program for them.

Recieved interview invitations to the majority of school I applied to and was accepted into most of those. Assisted in interview days for prospective Utah dental students. Currently serving in leadership positions that have provided me access to admissions committee members that have explained what they look for in potential candidates. Current chief resident in my orthodontic residency. I have spent numerous hours learning what admissions committees of all types look for. When I applied I received notable interview invites for 16 residencies and hope to share this knowledge with other applicants.

I bring more than 30 years of experience as a dentist, educator, mentor, and healthcare leader, together with first-hand experience evaluating dental-school applicants. I served on the University of Western Ontario Dental School Admissions Committee, participating directly in applicant assessment and admissions decisions, and on the Canadian Dental Association Dental Aptitude Test (DAT) Committee. I have also consulted on two proposed dental-school development initiatives involving student recruitment, admissions strategy, and applicant assessment criteria. Throughout my career, I have mentored future dentists at every stage of their development—from aspiring dental students participating in shadowing and work-and-learn programs, to undergraduate dental students completing summer internships, to newly graduated dentists in postgraduate clinical training. I have also served as an Adjunct Professor in Periodontics at Western and have delivered more than 255 lectures, workshops, seminars, and scientific presentations. When I coach an applicant, I bring both the perspective of someone who has sat on the admissions side of the table and someone who has spent a career practicing, teaching, and mentoring in dentistry. I help students identify what genuinely differentiates them, develop a thoughtful application strategy, communicate their experiences authentically, strengthen personal statements, and prepare confidently for interviews. My goal is not simply to help you gain admission—it is to help you understand why dentistry is right for you and how to present the strongest, most authentic version of yourself to an admissions committee.
