Dental School Admissions

Hello! I'm Val, a DMD student at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Being Latina and the first healthcare professional in my family, I know firsthand how overwhelming the dental school admissions process can feel when you’re figuring it out on your own. That experience taught me persistence, resourcefulness, and the value of finding the right guidance— which is now where I come in. I’m excited to meet you, cheer you on, and help you refine your story to create an application that truly reflects who you are. Together, we’ll make your path to dental school feel a little less stressful and a lot more empowering.

Seasoned pre-dental coach and mentor. After mentoring and guiding many pre-dental students throughout my dental school years, I've created a handful of PDFs and documents that I can provide you with in addition to my live attention. My first experience with the application process was my own, where I was successfully accepted to my top 3 programs that I wanted to attend. Since then, I've spent my time, both in-person and on Instagram, answering the questions of pre-dental students and providing them with the tools they need to become a high-quality applicant - the student that admissions committees are looking for!

I am a current dental student at Roseman University - Utah. Before dental school, I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Biology and minor in Public Health, earning Magna Cum Laude Honors. I also began pursuing a Master of Public Health with a Dental Emphasis from A.T. Still University. I have been tutoring for over five years, helping high school and college students in subjects including Chemistry, Biology, Math, College Algebra, and English. My teaching style brings a patient and thorough approach to make the learning experience understandable and enjoyable! As someone who recently went through the dental school application process myself, I understand the challenges that come with this journey. I want to utilize the skills and knowledge I gained to support pre-dental students and help them get admitted to their top-choice for dental school! I coach because I want to make the dental school application process as comfortable as possible for pre-dental students. I understand the challenges of being a student - juggling between coursework, studying for the DAT, engaging in extracurriculars, and needing to be a well-rounded student, all while preparing dental school applications. When I went through this process, having mentors guide me along the way helped me gain the confidence I needed to succeed. I want to coach other students to pass on the knowledge I gained from my own journey to support those who are in the position that I was once in. Being a coach allows me to combine previous tutoring experiences with my passion of helping students in need. I strive to provide a broadened educational experience to my students, which is geared towards allowing pre-dental students to achieve their goals. Seeing students grow in their respective journeys is the most rewarding part of what I do.

I am a current dental student at University of Michigan so I've been through the process! I've talked to and read through applications/personal statements as well as given interview advice to dental students who are now at dental schools such as UMich, UPenn, Harvard, and Columbia.
