Rachel Kulchar was born and raised in sunny San Diego. She is a current DDS/PhD student at UCLA and predoctoral fellow with the NIH. Here, she researches how cancer therapies affect the salivary glands. She earned her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, majoring in Chemistry with minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Materials Science & Engineering. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications and experience as a journal reviewer, Rachel brings a deep understanding of academic research and the higher education landscape. She has also served on several national boards focused on research and student recruitment in health-related fields. At UCLA, she has taught undergraduate science courses as a teaching assistant and enjoys mentoring students in both academic and pre-professional pathways. As a college consultant with over a year of experience, Rachel is dedicated to helping students find and gain admission to their best-fit schools. She fosters a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, grow with confidence, and aim high. I am a current dental student at Roseman University - Utah. Before dental school, I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Biology and minor in Public Health, earning Magna Cum Laude Honors. I also began pursuing a Master of Public Health with a Dental Emphasis from A.T. Still University. I have been tutoring for over five years, helping high school and college students in subjects including Chemistry, Biology, Math, College Algebra, and English. My teaching style brings a patient and thorough approach to make the learning experience understandable and enjoyable! As someone who recently went through the dental school application process myself, I understand the challenges that come with this journey. I want to utilize the skills and knowledge I gained to support pre-dental students and help them get admitted to their top-choice for dental school! I coach because I want to make the dental school application process as comfortable as possible for pre-dental students. I understand the challenges of being a student - juggling between coursework, studying for the DAT, engaging in extracurriculars, and needing to be a well-rounded student, all while preparing dental school applications. When I went through this process, having mentors guide me along the way helped me gain the confidence I needed to succeed. I want to coach other students to pass on the knowledge I gained from my own journey to support those who are in the position that I was once in. Being a coach allows me to combine previous tutoring experiences with my passion of helping students in need. I strive to provide a broadened educational experience to my students, which is geared towards allowing pre-dental students to achieve their goals. Seeing students grow in their respective journeys is the most rewarding part of what I do.

I would make a strong coach for students applying to dental school because I understand the admissions process from both the applicant and evaluator perspectives. As a member of the student admissions committee at HSDM, I have reviewed applications, interviewed candidates, and participated in discussions regarding admissions decisions. This experience has given me insight into what distinguishes strong applicants beyond grades and test scores—such as clarity of motivation, professionalism, depth of experience, and the ability to reflect meaningfully. In addition, through two years of mentoring pre-dental students one-on-one and delivering presentations on the application process, I have helped students translate their experiences into compelling narratives and approach interviews with confidence. I am able to provide honest, strategic guidance grounded in firsthand knowledge of how admissions committees think and evaluate candidates.

With a strong foundation in both clinical and research settings, I am passionate about guiding aspiring dental professionals through the admissions process. As a Dental Assistant and former intern in various medical environments, I have experience in patient care and the intricacies of medical practice. I know what schools are looking for from working with various admissions officers from different schools and from my own experience in the application process.
