Scored a 40 (99th percentile) on the MCAT in 2008 (dang, I'm getting old) and subsequently coached for Kaplan professionally during med school and later on an ad hoc basis for individual clients. My approach to the MCAT is highly personalized and focused on test taking strategy. We will spend more time on HOW to prepare (what should you be doing each day) and HOW to take the test (what is the strategy when you actually sit down on test day). Focused content review is an option for topics sitting at the intersection of particularly problematic for the applicant and highly represented on the exam.

I scored a 520 on the MCAT and am now an MD-PhD candidate at Weill Cornell. My background in neuroscience, health sciences, and research at the NIH and UCLA shapes how I teach: start with the core concept, connect it to the passage, and reason through the answer choices. I work with students on biology and biochemistry, chemistry and physics, and psychology and sociology. We will use your current performance, timeline, and schedule to build a focused study plan. In sessions, we can work through passages, unpack missed questions, and identify whether the main obstacle is a content gap, experimental reasoning, timing, or test-taking strategy. On the March 12th, 2022 MCAT, I scored 524/528, a 100th percentile score. I got 132/132 on Critical Analysis and Reasoning (CARS), 132/132 on Biology and Biochemistry (BB), 130/132 on CP (Chemistry and Physics), and 130/132 on Psychology and Sociology (PS). I studied for 6 months using Kaplan books, UWorld, third party full-length exams, and AAMC full-length exams. My AAMC FL average was 523/528. As a tutor for over eight years, I have extensive experience mentoring and teaching students of all ages and levels. Instead of making students memorize formulas and plug-and-chug to get answers, I encourage them to understand the principles and strategies behind each problem. My favorite teaching moment is helping students create their own examples and analogies to achieve that "eureka" moment when everything clicks.
