About

Hi, I'm Xavier. I'm a first-generation student and MD-PhD candidate in the Tri-Institutional program at Weill Cornell Medicine, The Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. My background includes a B.A. in Health and Human Sciences from USC, where I graduated magna cum laude, and research at UCLA and the National Institutes of Health. I coach students preparing for the MCAT and applying to MD and MD-PhD programs. I especially enjoy helping people connect the dots between their experiences, clarify why they want to pursue medicine, and communicate what excites them about research. My style is supportive, direct, and practical. We will focus on what you need most, whether that is a stronger essay, a more focused study plan, or practice explaining your ideas in an interview. I want you to leave each session knowing what to work on next and why it matters.

I scored a 520 on the MCAT and am now an MD-PhD candidate at Weill Cornell. My background in neuroscience, health sciences, and research at the NIH and UCLA shapes how I teach: start with the core concept, connect it to the passage, and reason through the answer choices. I work with students on biology and biochemistry, chemistry and physics, and psychology and sociology. We will use your current performance, timeline, and schedule to build a focused study plan. In sessions, we can work through passages, unpack missed questions, and identify whether the main obstacle is a content gap, experimental reasoning, timing, or test-taking strategy. You will leave with specific priorities for practice and review, so you know what to work on between sessions and why.

Why do I coach?

I coach because the path into medicine is easier to navigate when you have someone who will listen carefully, explain expectations, and give honest feedback. As a first-generation student, I care about making that guidance more accessible. I want to help you find the story at the heart of an essay, understand a concept that has felt out of reach, or feel more comfortable in an interview. My goal is for our work together to build both a stronger application or study strategy and the confidence to make thoughtful decisions for yourself.
