With over 20 years in medical education, I am a passionate coach and mentor to those seeking admission to medical school, as well as to medical students applying for residency programs. Having served as an MMI Interviewer I have a strong understanding of the qualities and traits that admissions committees are seeking. Working closely with medical students from first to fourth year, I have coached and mentored dozens of medical students as they navigate the residency application and interview process. I am particularly drawn to learners who are first generation college students and/or come from socio-economically challenged backgrounds. I believe medicine needs learners who reflect the patient populations they will serve and who bring intelligence, compassion, and a strong work ethic. It is my mission to help those learners achieve their goals.

Over the past three years, I have edited and coached over 100 student AMCAS applications, including their personal statements, activities documents, and secondary applications. My clients have all been accepted into their desired schools with MCAT scores ranging from 494-520+. This is why regardless of where your statistics lie, I strongly believe that a compelling and clear written representation of who you are is a critical first impression that you need to succeed.

My name is Manjima, and I'm a current MD-PhD student at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Before UNC, I was a biomedical engineering and neuroscience student at the University of Southern California, and a master's student at the University of Oxford. My path to medical school was definitely not a straight line, and it took me a lot of time to recognize and accept that this was my dream. There were a thousand moments during this journey where I worried that my GPA was too low, or my clinical experiences not impactful enough, or research not high-profile enough for me to get to where I wanted to be. But, I knew that if I could craft a compelling narrative around my experiences and background, and communicate this story authentically to admissions committees, that I'd have a shot at success. And eventually that paid off! My first cycle applying to medical school, I received 11+ interviews to a combination of MD, MD/PhD, and MSTP programs. I personally relied heavily on coaches and mentors to get me through my admissions process. As a non-traditional applicant, I did not have the support of pre-professional advising through universities. And many other "advisors" were quick to dismiss me based on what they saw as my perceived weaknesses. But I was lucky enough to find coaches and mentors who spent many hours working with me to craft my story, swamping through drafts and re-drafts of hundreds of essays, helping me with mock interviews, refining my elevator pitch, and listening to my research talks. Without their support, I would not be where I am today, and I hope to pay that forward to future generations of students.

I am an incoming first-year medical student at Harvard Medical School. This cycle, I have also earned acceptances at Duke, Cornell (Weill), Dartmouth (Geisel), Vanderbilt, Emory, UVA, and MCG, as well as interview invitations to Stanford, Hopkins, Penn, WashU, Mayo Clinic, UChicago, ISMMS, BU, UAB, and USF. I believe that the most important aspect of any application, beyond hard stats, is one's writing quality. Trained in literature in college, I have helped over 15 students with their personal statements while applying to medical school myself, the majority of whom have received several top-20 acceptances.

I am a senior undergraduate student at Duke University who recently completed the medical school application process, receiving 15 interviews and planning to matriculate at Vanderbilt School of Medicine. Many of my interviewers specifically highlighted my personal statement in their compliments, and asked in depth about my secondaries. As someone without any significant X factors or super high stats, I strongly believe that my essays played a significant role in having a successful application cycle. I work closely with students to develop a compelling personal narrative that not only highlights their strengths and experiences but also feels genuine to who they are. In addition to my application experience, I have served as a college admissions mentor for high school students and as a biology tutor throughout college. In addition to taking multiple creative writing and narrative medicine classes, as well as helping launch a Humanities in Medicine club, I have read extensively in this field and curated a collection of impactful works that explore storytelling in healthcare, offering you new ways to frame your story with depth and nuance. Having applied to nearly 50 medical schools, I am also familiar with a wide range of secondary prompts and institutional priorities. I am a physician-scientist in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. I have 10+ years of experience in medical school admissions.
