With firsthand experience navigating the rigorous consulting recruitment process – including being one of two selected for Dalberg, Geneva after three rounds of competitive case interviews – I offer unique insights into excelling at case interviews. At Harvard Business School, I was specifically requested by the Careers Service to coach peers in consulting preparation, helping many secure offers from firms such as McKinsey, BCG, Strategy&, and Kearney. Hello! I'm Mervi, a current Associate Consultant at Bain & Company, where I work on tech, consumer / retail, and private equity due diligences. My journey in consulting began with a summer internship at L.E.K. Consulting, and currently am a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain. I've been passionate about helping others break into this competitive field and am an active member of the UC Berkeley recruiting team, helping with on-campus recruitment and resume selection. In the fall, I will be starting my MBA at the Wharton School of Business, so also happy to speak and provide guidance on those looking to get their MBA as I have recently gone through the process myself. Having pivoted mid-career into consulting, put my time in at BCG, and exited as a venture-backed founder and entrepreneur, I have personal experience across the entire consulting career lifecycle, with a special awareness that many people seek consulting as a launching pad, not as a lifelong vocation. I've provided case interview preparation for hundreds of candidates who have gone on to BCG, McKinsey, Bain, Deloitte, Strategy&, LEK, and other top-tier firms. I've also worked directly with BCG recruiters on the back end of the recruiting process and continue to retain a robust network within many top firms, ranging from undergrad hires to partners. More broadly, I am incredibly passionate about coaching beyond the nuts and bolts of interview prep. I bring 20+ years of experience with a robust blend of technical, strategic, and leadership expertise to my coaching practice. Having started my career at Deloitte Consulting (from analyst to manager/case leader), I understand how to get into a top consulting firm and how to leverage those skills to accelerate your career. My goal is to empower leaders like you to accelerate your consulting careers, overcome challenges, and achieve meaningful personal and professional growth. Throughout my career, I have held leadership roles at top companies such as Deloitte, Bill.com, Intuit, LinkedIn, and PayPal. At Bill.com, as VP of Product Management, I played a key role in driving the company’s revenue growth by over 10x to >$1B ARR. These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of what it takes to lead with impact, drive innovation, and build high-performing teams. I hold an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. I have helped dozens of people navigate the Bain & Co. internship application process and pre-internship programs application process -- I was part of Bain's first CREW cohort! During college, I held five different internship roles across tech and consulting, and I understand what big firms look for when recruiting undergraduate students. I chose to turn down my Bain & Company full-time offer to work in startup operations, so I'm happy to help you determine if consulting is the right fit. I went from having no idea what a case interview was to landing a Bain offer in <6 weeks! I worked in management consulting for five years across a variety of roles - as a Business Analyst, Engagement Manager, and in the office of the CEO at McKinsey & Company. I was also able to do a secondment at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for a year. At McKinsey, I was a Faculty member who led first and second-year analyst trainings and conducted hundreds of hours of interview coaching. And in college at the University of Michigan, I peer coached dozens of students to offers at McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Accenture, Strategy&, and Deloitte.
