Hi, I’m Joyce! I graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology and later earned my MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. I know firsthand that the path to college—or graduate school—is rarely as straightforward as it looks on paper. I attended three different high schools in three different countries, navigated some significant challenges along the way, and ultimately built a career that has taken me across neuroscience, strategy, technology, and entrepreneurship. That’s a big part of why I love helping students with their applications. My strength is in helping you figure out the story only you can tell and then helping you tell it clearly, authentically, and memorably. I especially enjoy working on personal statements and supplemental essays, where the goal isn’t to sound impressive for the sake of being impressive. It’s to help an admissions reader understand who you are, how you think, what has shaped you, and what you might bring to their community. Professionally, I’ve worked in strategy and operations at companies including Dropbox, Instacart, and CNN, advised leaders and organizations, and spent much of my career thinking about people, potential, and what makes someone stand out beyond their credentials. Whether you’re applying to college or an MBA program, I can help with brainstorming your story, shaping your narrative, reviewing and editing essays, and making sure your application actually sounds like you. Applications can be stressful. My goal is to make the process a little clearer, more thoughtful, and hopefully even enjoyable.

In my college process I was accepted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Duke, and Stanford. I was accepted Early Admission (EA) to Princeton, and received early notification of admission to Harvard, Stanford, and Duke, which are usually reserved for the top 1% of applicants in the regular decision pool. Additionally, I was named a Gates Scholar. Due to this experience, I have an intimate understanding of the college admissions process and can coach end to end, providing guidance for all application components, test prep, essays, interviews, and school selection. Additionally, I have mentored multiple students who have gained admission to similar schools.

Joe has worked in admissions consulting for 18 years, primarily in the MBA space with over 80% of his clients getting admitted to M7 and top 20 programs including HBS, Kellogg, Stanford, Fuqua, and Yale SOM (to name but a few). In the undergrad space, he has helped students gain acceptance into top programs including USC, UCLA, and Duke. Just since 2022, Joe’s MBA clients have received over $6 million in scholarship offers. He has worked with clients around the globe in industries ranging from the standard (consulting, marketing, accounting, nonprofit, etc.) to the nonstandard (tourism, video games, television, and academia). He has also worked with clients applying to MBA programs in Canada and Europe. As a second-year student at SOM, he was an admissions interviewer and student ambassador.

Prior to my MBA, I was a Consultant, Senior Consultant, and Associate at Oliver Wyman. I have experience helping screen resumes and with multiple promotion cycles in my first four years I am confident in my strategy and story-telling abilities to help students craft compelling application materials at an affordable rate. I have also run a small nonprofit in the healthcare equity space for 6+ years in memory of my late uncle. Welcome to my profile! I’m an almost-3x Stanford graduate who is passionate about helping students recognize what makes them special and tell their stories in a way that feels both authentic and compelling. I’m originally from Zimbabwe and first came to the U.S. on a full-ride undergraduate scholarship to Stanford. As a Stanford undergrad, I served as a Resident Assistant and Student Programs Assistant at the Center for African Studies, published research in women’s health, and was deeply involved in the social impact community. I later returned to Stanford for my MBA and MA in Education, where I served as an Arbuckle Leadership Fellow coaching first-year MBA students and as an instructor for a Stanford leadership course. Over the years, I’ve coached 10+ students through the college application process, including five who went on to attend top U.S. universities with scholarships. I particularly enjoy helping students figure out how to turn the experiences, interests, and ambitions they already have into an application with a clear and memorable story. I care about this work because I benefited enormously from people who helped me see my own potential and taught me how to tell my story. I come from a culture where self-promotion doesn’t always come naturally, so learning to advocate for myself was a skill I had to develop.
