Stanford Mentor | Craft Winning College Applications with Confidence
Welcome to my profile! I’m an almost-3x Stanford graduate who is passionate about helping students recognize what makes them special and tell their stories in a way that feels both authentic and compelling. I’m originally from Zimbabwe and first came to the U.S. on a full-ride undergraduate scholarship to Stanford. As a Stanford undergrad, I served as a Resident Assistant and Student Programs Assistant at the Center for African Studies, published research in women’s health, and was deeply involved in the social impact community. I later returned to Stanford for my MBA and MA in Education, where I served as an Arbuckle Leadership Fellow coaching first-year MBA students and as an instructor for a Stanford leadership course. Over the years, I’ve coached 10+ students through the college application process, including five who went on to attend top U.S. universities with scholarships. I particularly enjoy helping students figure out how to turn the experiences, interests, and ambitions they already have into an application with a clear and memorable story. I care about this work because I benefited enormously from people who helped me see my own potential and taught me how to tell my story. I come from a culture where self-promotion doesn’t always come naturally, so learning to advocate for myself was a skill I had to develop. I’m especially excited to help students who may similarly struggle to recognize just how much they have to offer, or how to communicate it confidently. Whether you’re looking for help developing your overall application strategy, brainstorming and refining essays, preparing for interviews, or simply figuring out what makes your story stand out, I’d love to work with you. My goal is not to turn you into the applicant you think colleges want, but to help you present the strongest, clearest, and most authentic version of who you already are.

Duke MBA, Emory Neuroscience | College & MBA Admissions Essay Coach
Hi, I’m Joyce! I graduated from Emory University with a degree in Neuroscience & Behavioral Biology and later earned my MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. I know firsthand that the path to college—or graduate school—is rarely as straightforward as it looks on paper. I attended three different high schools in three different countries, navigated some significant challenges along the way, and ultimately built a career that has taken me across neuroscience, strategy, technology, and entrepreneurship. That’s a big part of why I love helping students with their applications. My strength is in helping you figure out the story only you can tell and then helping you tell it clearly, authentically, and memorably. I especially enjoy working on personal statements and supplemental essays, where the goal isn’t to sound impressive for the sake of being impressive. It’s to help an admissions reader understand who you are, how you think, what has shaped you, and what you might bring to their community. Professionally, I’ve worked in strategy and operations at companies including Dropbox, Instacart, and CNN, advised leaders and organizations, and spent much of my career thinking about people, potential, and what makes someone stand out beyond their credentials. Whether you’re applying to college or an MBA program, I can help with brainstorming your story, shaping your narrative, reviewing and editing essays, and making sure your application actually sounds like you. Applications can be stressful. My goal is to make the process a little clearer, more thoughtful, and hopefully even enjoyable.

UK university admissions expert (ex Cambridge)
I have over 10 years of experience coaching students. I specialize in crafting compelling personal statements that are authentic and distinctively impressive - I’ve successfully helped clients gain admission to prestigious universities such as Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Kings, Imperial, Warwick, and Manchester. Having received multiple offers and studied at Cambridge, as well as sending dozens of clients to the top UK schools, I know what compels the admission committee to say yes, and also how to bridge that gap given where an applicant is currently at.

Transfer Admissions Specialist | Cornell Alum
I didn't take the traditional path into the Ivy League. I transferred in. I was admitted to two Ivy League schools as a transfer applicant and graduated from Cornell. Transfer admissions is its own game, and most admissions advice ignores it. You're not being judged on who you were at 17. You're being judged on what you've done since, why you need to leave, and why this school specifically is the right next step. The applicants who win tell a clear story of growth and fit. The ones who lose write a better version of their high school essay. I know the difference because I lived it. I can help with: - Transfer applications from start to finish, including school strategy, timing and positioning - The "why transfer" and "why this school" essays, where transfer applications are won or lost - Turning your first-year record, activities and circumstances into a compelling story - First-year applicants who want an unconventional perspective on standing out - Planning around pre-professional paths like finance, consulting and business

Brown University BS | Essays & Strategy for College Applicants
I scored a 36 on the ACT and was admitted to Brown, where I study Applied Math, after applying from Dulwich College Beijing, an international IB school. I know what it takes to stand out from outside the usual US pipeline. Most students already have a strong story; they just can't see it in their own material. I help you find that thread, build a smart testing and application strategy, and write essays that sound like you. I work especially well with international and IB students, in English or Mandarin.
