I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and earned my degrees in French and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I went on to pursue my Juris Doctor (JD) at Duke University School of Law — an experience that deepened my love for the study of law. While I briefly worked in the legal field, I quickly realized that what truly inspired me wasn’t practicing law — it was helping others find their path through education. That realization led me to pivot into the field of international higher education, where I discovered my passion for mentoring students through the admissions process. For over 15 years, I’ve worked in university admissions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. As a former admissions officer, I’ve reviewed hundreds of applications from students around the world. My experience includes serving as the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Chicago Booth Executive MBA program, where I gained firsthand insight into what top-tier programs look for in standout candidates. I spent over a decade living in Hong Kong, where I worked with both local and international students on applications to law school, MBA, Master’s, and undergraduate programs. Now based back in Raleigh, I continue to support students worldwide as they pursue their academic and professional goals. He specializes in admissions strategies for elite graduate programs in law, business, public policy, finance, and economics. He has a decade-long track record of successfully guiding students to T14 law schools, Ivy League universities, Top 20 U.S. universities, and M7 business schools, including institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, Columbia, UPenn, Yale, UChicago, Cornell, Dartmouth, London School of Economics, King's College London, Duke, Georgetown, NYU, UCLA, USC, Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins. Brian was personally admitted to multiple Ivy League law schools before choosing to pursue a JD at UC Berkeley. He also holds a master of social science from UCLA.

Welcome to my profile. I hold a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and bring extensive experience in law school admissions consulting. I am the Founder and Principal Consultant of CW Admissions, drawing on experience guiding more than 100 applicants through the law school admissions process across national admissions consulting organizations and nonprofit initiatives, as well as experience as an application reader at a top-ten law school. My work focuses on application strategy, narrative development, and overall positioning. I help applicants identify their strongest themes, evaluate whether their materials are working at the admissions level, and understand how their applications function as a whole. Beyond initial submissions, I advise clients on post-submission strategy, including waitlist communications, letters of continued interest, and scholarship negotiation. My approach is highly individualized and coach-driven, with an emphasis on judgment, clarity, and thoughtful decision-making in a competitive admissions landscape.

Law school admissions is about more than numbers. I learned that firsthand as a first-gen applicant and reverse-splitter. I knew my personal statement and other written materials would need to contextualize my experiences and demonstrate why law school was the right path for me. Choosing the right stories and putting them into words led to outcomes I never imagined possible. I was rejected from just one of the 16 schools I applied to, and was admitted to Stanford Law School, my dream school. That admission opened doors I hadn't let myself imagine, from working in big law at two different firms to spending a summer on Apple's legal team. Since graduating from USC, I've guided dozens (if not hundreds) of applicants through the admissions process, helping them write compelling statements that got them into top law schools. I believe everyone's story is more unique than they realize, and my job is to help you find that story and tell it in the most authentic, genuine way possible.
