The Complete Junior Deferral Program (JDP) Package
JDP-type programs let current college juniors apply to schools like HLS and CLS a year early, then spend at least two years working, studying, or serving before starting 1L. The application window is short which means every piece has to be ready at the same time. Together we will: . Decide whether JDP is right for you now, or whether you should apply as a senior or after working, and lock in your LSAT/GRE plan. . Build your Statement of Purpose and Statement of Perspective. . Write your 200-word deferral plans response so it shows real direction without boxing you in. . Tighten your resume and plan your two to three recommendations, including who to ask, when to ask, and what to give them. . Prepare for interviews. . Draft any addendum you need (test history, grade context) and run a full check before you hit submit. *No admissions outcome is guaranteed.*
What's included
I work with you the way a senior attorney works with a junior attorney. For each piece of your application, we start by talking through the deliverable and brainstorming together. I give you clear guidance, and you go draft it. Then you bring it back, we discuss it, refine the thinking, and you go back for another round. Early rounds focus on substance and story. Once the foundation is solid, I get into the draft with line edits and comments. The final product is always yours. Sessions are live 1:1 over video, with written feedback between them, and every session ends with a clear assignment and deadline. Because JDP opens in the Spring, I recommend starting in February or March of junior year so your essays are close to final before spring exams.
- A go/no-go JDP decision and a game plan covering test date, recommender asks, and draft deadlines
- A final Statement of Purpose and Statement of Perspective
- A 200-word deferral plans response grounded in tailored options for your two years
- A polished, admissions-ready 1–2 page resume
- Recommender sheets and tailored scripts for your academic letters
- A mock Zoom interview with written feedback and a bank of preparation questions
- An addendum draft (if needed) and a line-by-line pre-submission final check

Dylan M.
T-14 Law grad. BigLaw experience. Law Review editor.
Hi, I’m Dylan — a Harvard Law graduate, former Law Review editor, and a former Big Law Associate. Before law school, I spent several years at Google and Facebook working on trust & safety, platform governance, and counterterrorism policy. I've also practiced as a civil rights law clerk at Wilson Sonsini, a Pre-Clerkship Associate at Jenner & Block, and served as a fellow at the Berkman Klein Center, where I focused on the First Amendment and AI governance. If you're thinking about law school, clerkships, or how to break into tech policy or public interest law, I can help you craft an authentic, values-forward application strategy — and stand out in a crowded field. Whether you're navigating 1L recruiting, pursuing a non-traditional path, or writing a personal statement that blends policy and purpose, I’ve been there and can help you tell your story powerfully. My coaching style is thoughtful, strategic, and grounded in real-world experience, from the Hill to the Harvard reading room to platform policy rooms at YouTube.
