I know firsthand what it takes to build an application that stands out while remaining authentic to your interests. As an environmental studies major and Spanish minor at Dartmouth College, I pursued the subjects and extracurriculars I was genuinely passionate about en route to medical school. Despite an academic focus that largely deviated from the traditional pre-medical mold, I was able to curate an application with broad appeal, earning medical school interview invitations to 16 schools, including many of the nation's most selective programs. And with targeted interview preparation where I embraced rather than downplayed these experiences, I was accepted to more than half of the programs where I interviewed. Through my own application, I gained firsthand insight into what resonates across different admissions committees. Now, as a psychiatry resident at Massachusetts General Hospital / McLean Hospital, I learn not just medicine, but how to best listen to and understand a patient's story. As a recent matriculate to medical school, the application process is still very fresh in mind. Having applied to schools in both the US and Canada, with several interviews and acceptances at top 15 schools, I bring an insider's perspective that will help you stand out at the most competitive schools in North America. I consider my application to be fairly unique, in that my extracurriculars weren't necessarily the "traditional" pre-med activities.
