Hi there! I'm Erin, a graduating full-time MBA candidate at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where I've honed skills in Economics and Entrepreneurship. As an Admissions Fellow at Booth, I've interviewed candidates and provided valuable insights to prospective students at admissions events, giving me a deep understanding of what top business schools are looking for. My professional journey includes strategic roles at Vanguard and an internship with McKinsey & Company, where I gained firsthand experience in management consulting and will be returning full-time after graduation. I am a proud first generation student who has successfully coached candidates in their MBA applications through the Forte Foundation network, helping them craft compelling narratives and navigate the admissions process. While at Vanguard, I spent several years in our Education Savings practice - in addition to MBA application logistics, I am well-versed in various ways to financially plan for school and am comfortable discussing program fit (i.e., full-time versus part-time). I tend to take the long way around, learning lessons the hard way and trying to fail forward. I’m energized by sharing those lessons and helping people with similar tendencies, backgrounds, and ambitions be a step ahead of where I was when I was in their shoes. At one point in my life, I started doing things for the plot. At a certain point, the plot started happening to me. If you’re someone who focuses less on test scores, though they do matter, and more on the story, the journey, and how all the pieces fit together, we’d probably be a great fit. Now for the baseball card stats: - I’m a 2025 Stanford GSB grad. - I went to Florida State and cold emailed 1,000 people to get a job in banking. I got fired after a year. - I failed forward and cold emailed my way into BCG. Didn’t get fired this time. I actually liked it, but eventually got bored and wanted to get closer to my dream of becoming a CEO. - So I moved to Kenya and joined Jumia, Africa’s first unicorn, where I launched and scaled a 20-minute grocery delivery business across 10 African countries to $10M+ in GMV in 18 months. - I applied to business school twice. - The first time, I applied to six schools and got zero interviews. I wasn’t ready. - The second time, I hired a consultant, applied to HBS and GSB, and got into both. That last part is a big reason I coach. I’ve been incredibly blessed with mentorship and guidance in my life, and I know firsthand how much the right person can change your trajectory. I want to provide some of that for other people. I’m not going to tell you there’s one perfect path or some secret formula to getting into business school. There isn’t. But I can help you understand your story, figure out what actually matters, sharpen your strategy, avoid some of the mistakes I made, and put together an application that sounds like you. I got into Columbia Business School off the waitlist with a $100K scholarship. I'm Josh, and as a re-applicant and "non-traditional" candidate who comes from an over-represented demographic background, I understand how confusing and challenging the MBA application process can be.
