Hi there! My name is Avi and I have taught the GMAT/GRE for 18 years. More importantly, I have written actual questions for the test and know the hidden patterns and strategies that I can teach you in order to be successful. For those who have math anxiety and/or test taking anxiety in general, I also address the psychological aspects of the test. My students are typically ones who are targeting the top schools and need a score in the 90th percentile and above. In my years teaching standardized tests, what I have found important is to provide students with a clear and customized syllabus of exactly what they ought to be doing between our private sessions. I do that using my own materials that I have written and developed. This means you will be practicing with realistic GMAT questions that reflect what you will see on the actual exam, NOT random busy work. I also specialize in Math 'Fraidy Cats. With my approach, you won't have to revisit four years of high school math. The verbal is an equally diabolical section with plenty of strategies I have devised over my years crafting questions for the exam and teaching them to my students. The GMAT is a tough hill to climb. We have to keep in mind that it's a "reasoning" test, not a skill and knowledge test. We have to take a different approach to studying for the GMAT and figure out how to make use of the information. The biggest part is the math, which asks you to pattern match a number of math properties to the question being asked. I have recent actual test questions available to work from. I have a deep understanding of the test — not just the content, but how the adaptive format works and what each section is really asking of you. More importantly, I understand that your time is valuable. The last thing you need is a cookie-cutter prep program that spends hours on material you have already mastered. Most of my students study approximately 4 hours per week and complete their preparation in 3–4 months, typically within 15-20 sessions. 75% of the effort is focused on math. If you can master math, then data insights will be easy. That is why the first thing I do is identify your strengths and weaknesses. Every student is different, so I tailor my teaching to how you think and where you need the most improvement. My approach focuses on teaching the reasoning process behind each question — how to think through Quantitative, Verbal, and Data Insights problems methodically — rather than simply drilling practice sets and reviewing answers.I provide all the preparatory materials you need, including questions from recent tests. For the last 25+ years I have had the honor of helping over a thousand students catapult their GMAT scores and get into the school of their dreams.
