On paper, I am a Princeton college graduate, and a Stanford MBA graduate - as well as the less conventional qualification of being an admitted Ph.D. student in Anthropology at UC Irvine. More importantly to me, I grew up in a working class community, and applied to these programs with few paths tread ahead of me to set an example. For that reason, I'm passionate about working with students who are developing their voice and narrative in the application process - because with such competitive programs out there, anyone can often feel like an underdog. To date, most of my coaching has been with low-income students who have lacked extensive resources, so I am most supportive in framing narratives in ways that hint at the unique, if sometimes scrappy, qualifications of a student. I like to focus on the whole picture that an applicant brings to the table, from individual traits, to passions, to family background - alongside all the standard materials an application holds. I have over 10 years of experience coaching students. I specialize in crafting compelling personal statements that are authentic and distinctively impressive - I’ve successfully helped clients gain admission to prestigious universities such as Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Kings, Imperial, Warwick, and Manchester. Having received multiple offers and studied at Cambridge, as well as sending dozens of clients to the top UK schools, I know what compels the admission committee to say yes, and also how to bridge that gap given where an applicant is currently at.

I take a highly supportive approach to coaching and aim to create an environment in which my clients can be completely open about their worries so I can be the best possible coach for them. That said, you can expect me to be constructively candid – because coaching is about challenging you and accelerating your growth, not making you feel good so I can collect a check. Besides sitting on Northwestern's alumni admissions council, I was an interviewer at both Google and Facebook, so I've spent many hours "on the other side of the table" and can give you a strong sense for how you might be perceived by interviewers and admissions committees. I enjoy coaching people from a huge range of backgrounds, but I specialize in coaching folks from lower-income families, LGBTQ+ candidates, and those from unconventional backgrounds trying to thrive in tech. I myself came from a low-income family and needed help getting connected to resources that would make college feasible for me – I can help you do the same.

When I was an undergraduate at Harvard I started helping students apply to top schools, and then was a full-time admissions coach for exceptional Chinese high school students in Beijing. I have extensive experience creating school lists, crafting essays to tell your most compelling story, strategizing about extra-curricular activities, and preparing for interviews. My goal is to partner with you, working side by side to make sure your best and brightest self shines through the application process.
