College Admissions

Throughout my fifteen years with SBC Consulting, ten years as Chief Editor with IvyPath College Consulting, and four years with MBA Prep School, I’ve helped countless applicants gain admission to their dream schools. With a primary focus on undergraduate admissions, I help clients present themselves as uniquely individual and authentic in their fit for each specific school and as passionate and contributing future alumni. Nothing is more important than a client’s story that reveals not only life experience but also the specific challenges that shaped unique qualities of character, personality, talents, goals, and desire to impact both the local and wider community throughout life. My method of finding the best story is through a series of questions that include a client’s most inspiring people, favorite moments, defining moments, and greatest challenges, fears and successes. When we have those answers, we have the beginnings of a story.

For nearly a decade, starting at the age of 22, I have helped students successfully navigate the UK university admissions process. From crafting compelling personal statements to excelling in interviews and understanding key questions, I guide applicants in selecting the right mix of universities based on their GCSE, A-level, or IB performance. I also specialise in supporting international students, helping them understand what is achievable within the UK system and positioning themselves for success. Having personally gained admission to top UK universities, including Cambridge, LSE, Warwick, and Exeter, I bring firsthand experience to the process. As a graduate of two leading UK institutions—Cambridge (MPhil) and Warwick (PPE)—and later, as an international student who successfully navigated the US admissions process to earn an MBA with Distinction from Harvard, I understand how to stand out in highly competitive applicant pools. My students have consistently secured places at prestigious universities such as Oxford, LSE, and UCL. With deep insight into the admissions system and a proven track record of success, I am committed to helping students unlock their potential and achieve their academic goals.

Welcome! I’m Mike, a professional admissions coach (Ex-Trinity Admissions) here to help you navigate every stage of the college application process. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel, but you don’t have to go it alone. When I applied to college, I faced fierce competition while striving for academic excellence, securing scholarships, and balancing extracurricular commitments. Along the way, I not only learned how to craft a compelling application but also how to adapt under pressure—a skill I instill in my students as they navigate their own challenges. Later, while working in admissions at Trinity College, I gained firsthand insight into how applications are reviewed, what makes an applicant stand out, and how decisions are made behind the scenes. I also saw how non-traditional predictors of success—like resilience, leadership, and personal growth—can make all the difference in a competitive application. As a seasoned mentor, I know what truly makes an applicant shine—not just on paper, but in the minds of admissions committees. My coaching is structured, results-driven, and deeply personalized. Whether you’re a high school student exploring your options, a junior or senior preparing your application, or a transfer student looking for the right fit, I’ll meet you where you are and help you take the next steps in your journey. By identifying your unique strengths and aspirations, we’ll craft a winning strategy that allows you to progress while maintaining wellness amidst academic stress. If you’re ready to take the next step, let’s build your path to college together—I’d love to help you succeed!

A lot of people will tell you that college admissions is solely a numbers game. That's a lie - and I'm the proof. I came from a working-class background and navigated college admissions without the help of guidance counselors and got into elite colleges. I've helped many soon-to-be-college grads do the same. Here's the insight: what colleges want to know is whether or not you are smart, thoughtful, ambitious, and if you'll fit into their school's mold. Those usually sound like: High GPA, High LSAT, and a ton of extracurricular activities that pad your college resume. But not everybody has those items -- and not everyone needs them to get into great schools. That’s where I come in. I specialize in helping students identify the 'hidden assets' in their background: the grit, the unique perspective, and the authentic voice that standardized tests simply can’t capture. Together, we will craft a narrative that proves you aren’t just another applicant with good grades, but a future leader who adds distinct value to their campus. My goal is to help you translate your life experiences into a story that admissions officers can't ignore, turning your unique background into your biggest competitive advantage.
