My journey in finance began at UBS as an Investment Banking Analyst, where I advised on high-profile transactions, including multi-billion dollar acquisitions and IPOs in the TMT group covering enterprise software, media, entertainment, and sports. I hold a Master's of Finance from Vanderbilt's Owen Graduate School of Management, where I was actively involved in investment and finance clubs. My background as a collegiate athlete has instilled in me a strong work ethic and leadership skills, which I bring to my coaching. I am passionate about helping aspiring private equity professionals navigate their career paths and achieve their goals. I have a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in the private equity and investment banking industries. In addition to my years of professional experience, I have an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance from Brigham Young University. Over the years, I've informally coached numerous individuals at all stages of their careers, helping them navigate the complexities of private equity and investment banking careers and achieve their professional goals. I have personal experience making the jump from investment banking to private equity post-MBA. I started out in investment banking as an Associate coming out of business school and then joined a private equity firm as a VP after 2.5 years as an investment banking Associate. I spent the next 20 years in private equity at Reynolda Equity Partners, ultimately becoming a Managing Partner. In 2025, I transitioned my role at Reynolda to Senior Advisor and began investing independently under my 1780 Capital banner. I spent much of my time at Reynolda leading the recruiting effort, interviewing candidates and making hiring decisions for Associates, Senior Associates, VPs and for Business Development positions. While in investment banking, I was also on the recruiting team for HBS and other MBA programs.

Hi I'm Sharif! I'm a Wharton Undergrad who interned in middle market private equity last summer. In addition, I am very familiar with the summer analyst recruitment process at PE mega funds and had many final round interviews before choosing to sign a summer analyst offer with Houlihan Lokey in the Restructuring Group.

I started in PE in 2021 at Sverica Capital, focusing on LMM growth buyouts with founders. I closed one deal while there - small, growing SaaS company with tons of value creation opportunities. Then, I moved over to Vector Capital in 2022, where I closed two more deals (cybersecurity and network monitoring, respectively) and had deep portco experience across corporate finance, strategy, and debt reporting / refinancing.

After graduating from Hamilton College, I worked in investment banking for 6 years, with experience across Goldman Sachs' TMT group in San Francisco and Bank of America's Healthcare group in New York. Today, I am a Private Equity Associate at ZMC, a middle-market private equity firm focused on technology, media, and entertainment. I have firsthand experience recruiting for investment banking internships, lateral positions, and private equity. At each firm that I've worked at throughout my career, I have made it a point to be heavily involved in the recruiting process and have conducted numerous interviews for a variety of roles. I have navigated the competitive landscape of investment banking & private equity and have successfully mentored numerous clients to secure positions at top firms. I worked at two generalist private equity firms focused on control investing in the middle market. I was able to successfully navigate the rigorous onboarding process each firm had - including a challenging case study under a time limit. During my experience in private equity, I was given the opportunity to invest in both domestic and international companies (US, UK, Romania) and had an average deal size of $100M. I enjoy helping clients navigate the PE recruiting cycle and strengthen their investment approach, technical capabilities, and nail their PE interviews.
