Before You Submit: Master's Application Final Review
You've put considerable work into your master's application. Before you submit, would a knowledgeable second perspective help you see what your materials communicate? Drawing on more than 20 years in graduate education, including leadership and admissions experience at MIT and Harvard, I offer a focused final review of your master's application materials. Master's programs serve different purposes—from professional advancement and career change to specialized study and preparation for research. My approach looks beyond grammar and surface polish to consider four questions: Preparation: Does your application communicate the experiences, knowledge, and strengths you bring to graduate study? Purpose: Is it clear why you're pursuing this particular master's degree and what you hope to learn or accomplish? Fit: Do your materials explain how this program's curriculum, opportunities, and learning environment align with your goals? Readiness: What is already working, and what deserves attention before submission? I'll review one near-final statement and CV or résumé for one master's program, provide written feedback and a personalized Submission Readiness & Fit Snapshot, and meet with you to discuss the most important next steps. The goal is not a perfect application or a prediction of admission. It's to help you communicate your preparation, aspirations, and program fit clearly, credibly, and in your own voice.
What's included
I begin by reviewing your near-final statement, CV or résumé, application prompt, and information about your chosen master's program. My review considers Preparation, Purpose, Fit, and Readiness. I'll look at how your experiences and goals come together—and whether a reader can understand why this particular degree and program are meaningful choices for you. I also consider the type of master's program you're pursuing. The way an applicant communicates fit may differ across professional, research-oriented, and academic degrees. You'll receive annotated feedback and a concise Submission Readiness & Fit Snapshot highlighting what is working, what could be strengthened, and what still needs verification. We'll then meet for a 30-minute conversation to discuss my observations and your priorities before submission. My approach is collaborative, candid, and grounded in experience working within graduate education. I provide substantive guidance while respecting your voice, your circumstances, and your ownership of the application.
- Annotated feedback on one master's statement of purpose or personal statement (up to 1,500 words) and one CV or résumé (up to three pages).
- Personalized Submission Readiness & Fit Snapshot identifying strengths to preserve, priority revisions, and important program-specific details to verify.
- One 30-minute individual debrief to discuss your feedback, answer questions about the review, and clarify your final revision priorities.
