Applying to business/graduate school is a big step, and it helps to have someone in your corner every step of the way who has been through it. I’m Joe - I am a graduate of Harvard Business School's full time MBA program, Navy officer, and longtime tutor/coach with a background in strategy, finance, engineering, and leadership. Before HBS, I served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, where I led teams and managed Sailors and operations for months at sea. I’ve also tutored and coached more than 300 students across personal finance, strategy, business, computer science and professional development. Helping people recognize and reach more of their potential has always been one of the most meaningful parts of my professional life. I’ve helped MBA applicants from a multitude of backgrounds think through their goals and build applications that feel both polished and authentic. My style is direct and practical: I’ll help you figure out what actually makes your story compelling, then turn that into a clear application strategy. I take a highly supportive approach to coaching and aim to create an environment in which my clients can be completely open about their worries so I can be the best possible coach for them. In addition to sitting on both Stanford's and Northwestern's alumni admissions councils, I was an interviewer at Google and Facebook, so I've spent many hours "on the other side of the table" and can give you a strong sense for how you might be perceived by interviewers and admissions committees. I enjoy coaching people from a huge range of backgrounds, but I specialize in coaching folks from lower-income families, LGBTQ+ candidates, and those from unconventional backgrounds trying to thrive in tech.

M7 Admissions Experience: I spent 11 years leading admissions for the Part-Time MBA Program at Kellogg School of Management. During that time, I recruited, interviewed, and evaluated MBA candidates, counseled prospective students and reapplicants, and helped build four incoming cohorts each year. My Kellogg experience gives me a perspective on MBA applications that goes beyond essays and application mechanics. I understand how an admissions professional looks at the whole candidate - from professional progression and accomplishments to career goals, communication, and program fit. I also understand the questions or concerns that may emerge when all the pieces are considered together. Part of my role as a coach is to ask the questions an applicant may not have considered, and help determine what will strengthen the overall candidacy. Today, applicants have access to more information and tools than ever before. I encourage clients to use good resources thoughtfully. I bring something complementary: years of experience evaluating real MBA candidates and the judgment that comes from seeing how individual choices contribute to the overall impression an applicant makes.
