After completing my degree in Accounting from the University of Utah, I quickly felt bored and like a cog in a massive corporate machine. I had a lifelong goal of getting an MBA, but quickly learned there is an overwhelming amount of routes to take for a graduate degree. Do I quit my job and go for a top full-time MBA program? Do I keep working and get into an online or part-time program that may take several years? I knew I wanted to work in finance sho should I pursue a Master's of Finance instead? Ultimately, I decided to keep working, got admitted to the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and completed the part-time program in 13 months without ever taking the GMAT. I love to coach people through this overwhelming process and help them decide what is best for them as there are so many options to accomplish the end goal. I spent 12 years as a staff member at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, working closely with MBA students and supporting the admissions team. During my tenure at Wharton, I acted as a trusted adviser to prospective applicants as well as admitted and matriculated students. I conducted admissions chats with applicants early in the admissions process, administered interviews with hopeful students, read and reviewed completed applicant files, and also participated in admissions committee meetings. Additionally, I also represented the school at recruiting and welcome events. Prior to joining Wharton, I spent 5 years as a journalist, writing and editing for a number of mid-sized newspapers on both the East and West coasts. I earned my undergraduate degree in journalism from Penn State University and I also hold a Masters in Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
