I hold a BA in Sociology from Brown University and built my robust career in product management at American Express, where I focused on AI-powered initiatives to enhance card member experiences. Hi everyone! I’m Sydney, a 2024 MBA graduate from Harvard Business School. Having been admitted to several M7 programs, I know how to shape a story that stands out in a highly competitive process. In my own applications, I successfully explained both a past career pivot - from Investment Banking to the less traditional field of Investor Relations - and my plans to pivot again after HBS into the business of sports. That dual experience gives me a unique perspective on how to craft essays and interviews that clearly frame both where you’ve been and where you want to go. I also work closely with applicants to determine whether business school is the right fit, and if it is, how to approach the journey with confidence and clarity.

Gained admission to Booth, Kellogg, and Tuck, and received two scholarships. From there I went on to gain job offers at Bain & Company and BCG, as well as raising pre-seed capital for my startup. I'm passionate about helping applicants with non-traditional backgrounds: I know first-hand how hard it can be to navigate the application process for people like us. I got into Wharton with a GMAT of 710 and TOEFL of 106, both well below the school's average. I also received scholarship and fellowship offers from NYU Stern and Michigan Ross. My test scores didn't define my application. What stood out was my unique story: diverse career pivots across functions and markets, a niche in entrepreneurship, design thinking, and EdTech, and a track record of doing things others thought impossible (like publishing two books before ever working in corporate). I leaned into what made me different, not what made me "the same best" as everyone else. That's the biggest mistake I see applicants make: trying to fit into what they think MBA programs want. But admissions committees aren't looking for the "best" candidate. They're looking for a diverse class of unique individuals. Your job isn't to be perfect. It's to be distinctly you. I pursued a dual degree, MBA and Master's in Education, at Penn because I'm genuinely passionate about empowering others. That same passion drives my coaching today. I also know what it feels like to work with big-name consultants who don't remember your story and give generic advice. My approach is different. When I was applying to business schools, I had no direct experience of applying to US schools. However, my goal was to apply to internationally recognized business schools to ensure that I got the full benefit of taking 2 years out of my career to study full time. I had a small network of friends and mentors that had successfully been admitted into top-tier schools like HBS, Stanford GSB, MIT Sloan, and LBS. Without their guidance, I would not have successfully been admitted into my schools of choice. My MBA opened up opportunities for me to pivot from working in mining, to management consulting at BCG, and subsequently to senior strategy and operations roles at Capital One and Google. Now, I would love to pay it back - especially to folks with non-traditional backgrounds! Hi, I'm Sabrina — a sustainability practitioner and career coach with a background in consulting, based in Toronto and now Berkeley. My path here has been anything but straight: I studied Finance and Accounting, completed five internships spanning audit at Deloitte and consumer fintech at PayPal, then spent three years at McKinsey building my consulting foundation. From there, I took a leap into mission-driven work as a Fellow at Conservation International, focused on ocean conservation finance. Now I'm pursuing a dual MBA and Master of Climate Solutions at UC Berkeley, navigating the sustainability space in real time — which means I know firsthand what it takes to break in, stand out, and build a career with both impact and trajectory. Since college, I've been passionate about helping people find work they're genuinely excited to wake up for. Aside from my experience coaching MBA candidates, I have spent my post-GSB time consulting for founders, early-stage startups, and investors across for-profit and non-profit spaces globally. This has allowed me to uniquely guide current or aspiring entrepreneurs and investors throughout the application process and, for numerous clients, beyond as I’ve continued to be a resource helping to navigate questions regarding financial aid, maximizing the MBA experience, internships, and post-MBA careers. The application process is not easy and for most, including myself when I applied, it’s straight up stressful. I work closely with a limited number of clients, creating bespoke coaching experiences for each, building trust and bringing clarity to an opaque process. I believe this approach has helped my applicants be successful.
