Work with Gloria

About

I’m Gloria Anglón, an Afro-Latina, first-generation college graduate with more than 20 years of experience helping people navigate graduate education, important decisions, transitions, and change across MIT, Harvard, Maryland, and USC My work connects two areas I care deeply about: helping people navigate graduate education more wisely and partnering with people as they navigate decisions, relationships, transitions, and the systems that shape their lives—with greater clarity, agency, care, and connection. My approach is collaborative and systems-aware. I bring deep experience in graduate education, thoughtful questions, practical strategy, mindfulness, and attention to what is happening within you, in your relationships, and in the cultural and institutional contexts around you. My role is not to decide for you. It is to help you see more clearly, reconnect with your strengths, supports, and what matters most, and find a way forward that feels wise and workable.

Gloria’s College Qualifications

Coaches professionally

I help undergraduate students and early-stage researchers navigate research pathways, summer research opportunities, mentoring, and preparation for future graduate study. My approach is developmental rather than prestige-driven. Together, we’ll clarify what you already bring, what you hope to learn next, and the kinds of research environments, relationships, and opportunities that can support your growth. Across more than two decades in graduate education at MIT, Harvard, Maryland, and USC, I’ve supported students through research opportunities, admissions, mentoring, fellowships, and graduate-school preparation. As MIT Assistant Dean for Graduate Education, I directed the full lifecycle of the MIT Summer Research Program (MSRP), including recruitment and holistic review, faculty and research placements, participant support, assessment, and alumni engagement. My goal isn’t simply to help you submit a stronger application. It’s to help you make thoughtful choices about where you can learn, contribute, build relationships, belong, and continue developing as a researcher.

Why do I coach?

I coach because capable people deserve to thrive—not just endure. Across more than 20 years in graduate education, I saw talented people gain meaningful opportunities while still navigating unspoken norms, competing expectations, self-doubt, isolation, and pressure to keep performing. I believe people grow best when they feel seen, supported, and connected to what matters most. Coaching creates space to notice what may be hidden—within ourselves, within our relationships, or within the systems we’re navigating—and to reconnect with strengths, community, purpose, belonging, and possibility. Sometimes our work is about solving a problem or making a decision. Sometimes it is about making more room for joy, meaning, connection, or a greater sense of possibility.
