About
If you’re facing a financial question or decision and aren’t sure what matters most or what to do next, that’s exactly the kind of situation I help with. Sound financial principles matter. But applying them well often requires more than knowing the rule of thumb. A good decision may depend on your goals, time horizon, liquidity needs, risk, competing priorities, and what the money ultimately needs to support. My role is to help you understand how those pieces fit together, identify the tradeoffs that actually matter, decide what to prioritize, and apply sound financial principles to the realities of your situation. I’ve seen that in my own decisions too. I once chose a lower-tax place to live because it looked better financially, then realized it wasn’t the better overall fit once I weighed the full picture. The lesson wasn’t that the numbers didn’t matter. They did. It was that they were one part of a larger decision. Before launching my coaching practice, I spent more than 11 years in strategy, commercial leadership, and general management across large corporations and consulting firms. Much of that work involved making decisions with incomplete information, competing priorities, real constraints, and meaningful consequences. That experience shapes the way I coach: listen carefully, clarify the facts, identify what matters most, understand the tradeoffs, and determine the next practical step. I earned my MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BS in Finance from Wake Forest University. I’m based in Philadelphia. Outside of work, I enjoy golf, playing piano and guitar, museums and history, good restaurants, and international travel.

I’m the founder of David Nestor Financial Coaching, where I work with individuals and couples facing financial questions or decisions involving cash flow, saving, investing, debt, retirement, employer benefits, and major life decisions. My coaching helps clients clarify what matters most, understand the tradeoffs, and identify next steps that fit their situation. Before launching my coaching practice, I spent more than 11 years in strategy, commercial leadership, and general management, including leading a roughly $150 million business spanning the Americas region. I hold an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BS in Finance from Wake Forest University. That experience shapes the way I coach: listen carefully, analyze the full picture, weigh competing priorities, and turn complex information into practical decisions clients can understand and act on.

Why do I coach?
I coach because I enjoy helping people move from uncertainty to understanding and action. Many financial decisions are not difficult because information is unavailable. They are difficult because several legitimate priorities can compete at the same time, and general advice does not tell you exactly how it applies to your situation. The part I enjoy is listening carefully, seeing how the pieces fit together, identifying the tradeoffs that matter, and helping someone arrive at a decision they understand and own. I want clients to leave not only knowing what their next step is, but understanding why it makes sense and feeling better equipped to make future financial decisions with clarity, confidence, and control.
