About Adam
I'm Adam King, founder of Optimal — an AI automation company based in New York City. I am a triathlete, a foodie, and a people person. I began my career in venture capital and private equity, and have since transitioned into AI automation. I have worked with two different YC-backed AI companies, where I led the design and implementation of bespoke AI automation systems for companies across industries. Every business is different. The preschool network running a million-dollar food program has nothing in common with the private credit firm closing fund deals, but both are drowning in manual processes that AI can handle. My job is helping businesses know where to start, before scoping and implementing systems that we embed into their processes.
Why do I coach?
I began coaching when I watched people I care about — smart, successful operators and friends — start to feel genuinely afraid of AI. They could see the headlines. They knew things were changing fast. But the gap between reading about AI and actually using it to transform your work felt ambiguous. One call led to another, and I have now helped dozens of businesses capture real value in automation! My north star is simple: enable companies to become people-first by being automation-first. The tedious, repetitive, soul-crushing work that keeps talented people from doing what they're best at? That's what AI should handle. And the people who've been doing that work? They should be freed up to build relationships, think creatively, and drive the business forward.
