Sam was awarded the Graduate Dean's Citation for Outstanding Final Project in the Major at Grand Valley State University at the Graduate Student Celebration Reception on December 7, 2012, when he completed his Master of Science in Computer Information Systems. During his graduate program, he conducted collaborative research in GVSU's Medical and Bioinformatics field study. The team built a web-based, multi-user application that helps researchers identify temporal patterns in gene expression profiles to support translational medicine.
