As a former Associate Director of Admissions at Stanford Law School, I have read thousands of applications front to back, and have a deep understanding of what top law schools are looking for. It is more than just trying to 'stand out' from the crowd. You will need to craft a highly compelling story so that you convince the admissions committee that you have amazing potential as a law student, AND you will make a valuable contribution. I have many years of experience helping prospective law students gain admission to their dream schools - even those with less than optimal GPAs and LSAT scores. I am a strong believer that an applicant is more than the numbers - but the essay is the make-it or break-it factor. I will be your thought partner and supportive advisor from start to finish. I have expertise developing individualized time lines, school lists, letters of recommendation, resumes, essays (required and optional), character and fitness paragraphs, managing waitlists and even negotiating financial aid awards. I am here to answer any question that may come up throughout this time consuming and oftentimes overwhelming process, and we will have fun working together. You can do this, and I am here to help!

I love the storytelling of admissions essays. My specialty is working on the law school essays, ranging from short optional essays, to diversity statements, to the personal statement. Having worked as a legal assistant, a resident assistant, and as president of a law school organization, I believe in the value of public service, and in sharing my knowledge with you. I start with understanding your goals and emotions, to help you tell the story you want to tell about your journey to law school. I have experience in legal advocacy and working with legal clients from a wide range of backgrounds, and am comfortable meeting you where you are. I see myself as helping you to grow your creativity in the essay writing process, trimming areas that may trip you up, and coming out with an incredible bouquet of essays. I grew up in South Tucson, Arizona, and I’m now a JD/PhD candidate at Yale Law School and the University of Oxford. For over ten years, I’ve helped students from first-gen, low-income, and immigrant backgrounds gain admission to top law schools and receive the most prestigious scholarships by turning their life stories into clear, compelling application narratives. As a Truman Scholar, Marshall Scholar, and Skadden Fellow, I’ve been through the fellowship and admissions process at the highest levels. I know how intimidating this process can feel, especially if you don’t come from a background where people “know how this works.” I’m here to help guide you through the admissions process and put forward the strongest version of your story.

As a two-time member of the Georgetown Law Admissions Committee with 10 years of experience as an admissions consultant, I know what law schools are looking for and how to help students present themselves positively and persuasively to the admissions committee. I am an expert educator and editor with experience teaching college students and professionals in one-on-one and group settings with specific emphasis in writing and prelaw skills. My experience as an attorney at the #1 intellectual property litigation group in the country, as well as in the federal government and small to medium-sized firms, has provided me with insider knowledge about the skills and qualities legal employers are seeking. My former students have graduated from some of the top law schools, including Columbia, Georgetown, and George Washington, and have continued on to federal clerkships, law firms, public interest, and government roles. Some of my former students have also received up to full scholarships to law school. I am also an expert on the subject of legal careers, as well as alternative legal careers. In addition I have taught several courses for students planning to apply to law school. I am a graduate of Brown University and Boston College Law School.

Daniel Khalessi served as President of the Stanford Law Review and is a startup and venture capital lawyer at Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco. He is passionate about helping others turn their personal experiences into powerful stories and achieve their dreams. Having lost his Dad at a young age, Daniel understands what it is like to overcome challenges. A product of Bay Area public schools, Daniel earned a B.A. from Stanford, M.A. in Global Affairs from Yale, M.A. in Economics (China Studies) from Peking University, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in constitutional law and earned prizes for outstanding performance. He previously worked as a startup lawyer at Latham & Watkins LLP and as a China analyst at Harvard's Belfer Center.
