Break Into Quantum: Career Roadmap
Breaking into quantum computing can feel overwhelming. There are many paths, a lot of hype, and little clear guidance. I’ve worked in quantum at Microsoft, written a book on the mathematics of quantum computing, and teach as affiliate faculty in physics at George Mason University, so I can help you find a realistic path in. Over 3 hours, we’ll: Session 1: Review your background and goals, and assess your skills gap in math, physics, programming, and quantum frameworks. Session 2: Build a personalized learning plan with the right courses, books, and hands-on projects for your target role. Session 3: Review your resume and LinkedIn, and identify target roles, companies, and next steps for networking. This package is a good fit for software engineers, physicists, data scientists, and students who are serious about a career in quantum.
What's included
We’ll meet live over video for most of our time together, so we can talk through your background, goals, and plan. I’ll review your resume and LinkedIn asynchronously and send written feedback, so our live time is spent on discussion rather than edits. After each session, you’ll get a short written summary with next steps. You can message me between sessions with quick questions.
- A clear skills-gap assessment showing exactly what you need to learn, and what you can skip
- A personalized 3–6 month learning roadmap with specific resources and projects
- Concrete edits to your resume and LinkedIn so they speak to quantum hiring managers
- A short list of target roles and companies that match your background
- A networking and job-search action plan with clear next steps

Leonard W.
Author of Essential Math of Quantum Computing | Ex-Microsoft, IonQ
I help people understand quantum computing and build careers in it, without the hype. I spent seven years working in quantum at Microsoft, first as a Quantum Ambassador and later as a Senior Product Manager on Azure Quantum. Before that, I spent nearly 20 years as a software developer and solution architect. I wrote Essential Mathematics of Quantum Computing (Packt), I’ve created quantum training for Microsoft and IonQ, and I’m an Affiliate Faculty member in Physics and Astronomy at George Mason University. Today I run Essential Quantum Group, an independent quantum consulting firm. I can help you: Map out a realistic path into a quantum career Truly understand the math behind qubits, gates, and algorithms Make sense of what quantum means for your business Working with me is interactive, not a lecture. We’ll work through examples together, I’ll answer your questions as they come up, and I’ll give you practice between sessions so the ideas stick. I’m patient, I’ll meet you where you are, and no question is too basic.
