Work with McGinnis
About
I graduated from Georgetown University, where I studied Finance and began my career in investment banking. Like many ambitious college students, I initially focused heavily on getting into a competitive career without spending enough time asking a more fundamental question: what kind of work and life did I actually want? That question eventually became much more important to me. After gaining experience in investment banking, I moved into coaching at Scholars of Finance, a national organization that works with undergraduate finance students across the country. Today, much of my work sits at the intersection of career strategy, leadership, and personal development. I am particularly interested in helping ambitious students make thoughtful career decisions rather than simply following the most prestigious path available to them. Once someone knows what they are working toward and why, the practical pieces—recruiting, networking, interviewing, and skill development—become much easier to approach strategically. Outside of coaching, I spend much of my time reading and thinking about entrepreneurship, psychology, philosophy, leadership, and human performance. I care deeply about building a meaningful career and life, and I enjoy working with people who take those questions seriously.

Experience level: Intern
60+ Investment Banking clients
I bring experience from both sides of the finance recruiting process: as a candidate who successfully navigated competitive investment banking recruiting and as a professional coach who has helped students do the same. I graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University with a degree in Finance and gained investment banking experience at Houlihan Lokey and Taylor Advisory. After graduating, I joined Scholars of Finance, a national nonprofit serving students across 68 university chapters, where I work as a Leadership Coach. I have directly coached dozens of students one-on-one and led workshops and sessions for hundreds more. That combination shapes how I coach. I can help with the tactical side of recruiting—career strategy, networking, resumes, behavioral interviews, technical preparation, and navigating the recruiting process—but I also help students think carefully about what they actually want from their careers. My goal is not simply to help someone land an offer. It is to help them identify the right path, understand what it takes to succeed on that path, and execute a disciplined strategy to get there.

Why do I coach?
I coach because I know how consequential the early career years can be—and how difficult it is to make good decisions when you are surrounded by competition, prestige, and pressure to follow a conventional path. My own experience in finance taught me that succeeding at recruiting and choosing the right career are two different problems. Learning how to network, interview, and position yourself matters, but so does understanding your values, strengths, and the kind of life you ultimately want to build. I have found coaching rewarding because it allows me to help students with both. Sometimes that means preparing for an investment banking interview or developing a recruiting strategy. Other times it means helping someone step back and determine whether the path they are pursuing is actually right for them. The most satisfying part of coaching is watching someone become more capable and independent—leaving not only with a better resume or stronger interview skills, but with better judgment about their career and greater confidence in their ability to navigate it.
