I have an MPH from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health that was fully funded by the Sommer Scholarship. I also received offers from every single program I applied from (LSHTM, UC Berkeley, Harvard, Columbia) as well as competitive scholarship offers such as the Foreign Language and Areas Studies Fellowship (FLAS) and the APHA Kaiser Permanente Community Health Scholarship. I trained as a management consultant at Deloitte and have since dedicated myself to advancing reproductive health and rights through roles at Ibis Reproductive Health, Fos Feminista, Ipas, and Surgo Health. I am also a writer, poet, and activist and understand the importance of cultivating an interdisciplinary career. I've completed three Master's-level qualifications, two of which were in the UK - an MSc in China & Globalisation at King's College London, and a fully-funded Master's in Healthcare Leadership (jointly delivered by the Universities of Birmingham and Manchester). Between them, I've navigated everything from a highly competitive academic social sciences programme to a funded, vocational leadership Master's designed for practising public health sector professionals - so I understand how differently these applications need to be approached depending on the programme type. I also completed my undergraduate degree, a BSc in Political Economy, at King's College London, where I served as a student ambassador, supporting prospective and incoming students through the application process itself. Graduate school admissions is not a numbers game. There’s no magic GPA or standardized test score you need that will guarantee success. That means it is hard to predict how you’ll do—and that if you know what admissions committees are looking for, you can build a winning application. I am a PhD Student in sociology at Harvard University, in addition to having a JD from Harvard Law School, and a BA from Bard College. I know first-hand how stressful the graduate school application process is, and how to successfully navigate it. I know what admissions committees look for. And I know how to present your credentials—and build them—the way successful applicants do. Sociologists analyze the "hidden curriculum," but too often only whisper networks give applicants the insights they need to make a successful application. I hope to change that. My approach is bottom-up.
