From 2015-2022 I led consulting prep at the Cornell Johnson MBA Career Management Center. We went from sending 15 students/year to McKinsey/Bain/BCG to 50+, and more than doubled overall consulting placements. I've coached over 1,000 students to consulting offers privately as well, taught at Cornell, North Carolina State, Northeastern University, and wrote the 2026 version of the Vault Guide to Case Interviewing. Excelling at prep requires sifting through the various pieces of advice out there and identifying which elements are true best practices, which are effective only if they play to your own natural strengths, and how you can stand out uniquely (when hundreds of other candidates are looking at similar resources). Why do I coach?

I prepped for my McKinsey interviews in the space of three weeks while in law school. I'm sympathetic to the feeling of being behind or under-resourced in prep, but was able to figure out what worked for me, and don't think that preparation should require excessive stress and hundreds of hours.
