About

I'm an OB/GYN resident at UPMC with a background in mechanical engineering from Northwestern and health tech consulting at Deloitte. I've spent 10+ years coaching and tutoring students through college applications, medical school applications, and standardized exams — with admits to Ivy League and top medical programs, and students who've gone from below-average scores to above the 90th percentile on the MCAT, SAT, and ACT. My approach is direct and structured. I think in frameworks, cut to the real problem fast, and give precise feedback instead of vague encouragement. I work best with students who have strong potential but need help figuring out how to position themselves and tell their story — especially those coming from non-traditional backgrounds.

David also coaches for College and USMLE. View all.

David’s Medical School Qualifications

I'm an OB/GYN resident at UPMC with a decade of experience coaching applicants through the medical school process. I've helped dozens of students get into medical school, including several top-20 and Ivy-affiliated programs, and I've worked with applicants at every stage — from school list strategy to personal statement to interview prep. My path into medicine wasn't linear. I came from mechanical engineering and management consulting before medical school, which means I've built and coached a lot of non-traditional narratives. I know what a strong application looks like from the inside, and I know how admissions committees actually read them. I work on strategy and storytelling: identifying what's genuinely compelling about your background, cutting what isn't, and making sure your application reads as a coherent case for why you belong in medicine.

Why do I coach?

The mentors who gave me honest, direct feedback at key moments in my own path made a real difference — and most students don't have access to that. I coach because I'm good at seeing what's actually holding an application back, and because turning a complicated background into a compelling narrative is exactly the kind of problem I find interesting.
