Kristin’s Film & Television Qualifications
Experience level: Director
10+ people coached for Film & Television
I bring nearly 20 years of experience working in television, streaming, advertising, and branded content, with a specialty in wardrobe styling and costume design. I have collaborated across creative and production departments, including art direction, specialty props, directing, and producing, which gives me a broad understanding of how projects operate and how talent and crew work together on set. My credits include projects for more than 70 brands and networks, including Netflix, Disney, NBC, Nickelodeon, Google, and Mercedes-Benz. I was also accepted into the Costume Designers Guild, IATSE Local 892. As a university instructor, mentor, image consultant, and longtime industry professional, I combine practical career guidance with an experienced visual perspective. I support two types of clients. For emerging stylists, costume professionals, and other crew members, I provide guidance on building experience, developing a portfolio, finding freelance opportunities, earning referrals, networking, navigating on-set etiquette, and positioning a broad creative skill set. For actors, performers, and other on-camera talent, I offer support with audition presentation, headshots, wardrobe choices, character development, visual storytelling, and understanding how appearance communicates on camera.

About Kristin
It’s no surprise I chose to play dress-up for a living. The mall was my playground, theater gave me a reason to step into costume, and my mother’s closet was a magical place where deadstock fabrics became one-of-a-kind creations on her 1960s Singer. By high school, I was staging Polaroid fashion shoots with friends and covering my bedroom walls with pages torn from Vogue and Elle. My fascination with how image shapes perception led me to study photography, graphic design, marketing, and cultural anthropology. I began my career in advertising and publishing before moving into wardrobe styling and costume design. More than two decades later, I have worked across entertainment, advertising, fashion, media, education, and branded content, collaborating with more than 70 brands and networks, including Netflix, Disney, Google, Mercedes-Benz, Nordstrom, and Goop. I have always been drawn to characters: how they are created, what they communicate, and how clothing and visual choices shape the way we perceive them. That curiosity informs the way I work with both on-camera talent and emerging creative professionals. Whether I am helping someone prepare for a headshot or audition, develop a character, build a portfolio, or navigate the realities of working on set, I bring an experienced visual perspective and a practical understanding of the industry.
Why do I coach?
Coaching matters to me because I built much of my career without a dedicated mentor. I was fortunate to have people who encouraged me to take risks and pursue opportunities, but most of what I learned came through trial and error, professional experience, and observing different employers and collaborators. That process taught me a great deal, but it also required significant time, energy, and persistence. I coach because I want to help others make sense of the industry sooner, recognize the value of their skills, and move forward with clarity and confidence.
