Leaving sport is about more than finding your next job. It's about figuring out how to channel the same drive that made you successful as an athlete into a career that's equally meaningful. As a former professional beach volleyball player, former NCAA head coach, and career coach who has helped more than 1,200 athletes navigate career transitions, I've learned that most former athletes don't lose their drive. They lose the environment that once helped channel it. The structure, feedback, accountability, and shared purpose that came naturally through sport don't automatically exist in the next chapter. My coaching combines practical career strategy with performance coaching to help you navigate that transition with clarity and confidence. Together, we'll identify what motivates you, translate your athletic experience into professional strengths, develop a focused job search strategy, strengthen your personal brand, prepare for interviews, and build a plan that aligns with both your goals and the way you're wired to perform. To support this work, I developed the Athlete Intrinsic Motivator (AIM) framework, a coaching tool designed to help athletes better understand what drives them, identify the environments where they'll perform at their best, and make career decisions that align with both their strengths and motivations. My goal isn't simply to help you land another job. It's to help you build a career where you can continue to grow, perform, and find the same sense of purpose and fulfillment that sport once gave you.

About Jill
I'm a former professional beach volleyball player, former NCAA head volleyball coach, and career performance coach who helps athletes navigate one of the biggest transitions they'll ever face: life after sport. Over the past five years, I've coached more than 1,200 athletes and professionals through career transitions. Along the way, I earned a PhD in Organizational Behavior with a focus on leadership and an MBA, but the lessons that shaped my coaching the most came from competing, coaching, and experiencing transition firsthand. I founded Beyond the Game because I believe athletes don't lose what made them successful when they leave sport, they simply need to understand how to apply those strengths in a new environment. My coaching combines career strategy with performance psychology to help athletes build meaningful careers where they can continue to perform at a high level.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I've lived the transition myself, and I've spent years watching talented athletes question themselves after leaving the game. What I've learned is that most former athletes don't lose their drive, discipline, or competitive edge. They lose the structure that once helped channel those strengths. My goal isn't simply to help someone land a job. It's to help them understand how they're wired to perform, identify the environments where they'll thrive, and build a career that allows them to keep performing long after sport ends. There's nothing more rewarding than watching an athlete realize they don't need to become someone new, they simply need to learn how to perform again in a different arena.

Beyond The Game
January 2026 - Present
Beyond the Game is my work focused on helping former athletes navigate performance, direction, and identity after sport. I work with individuals through 1:1 coaching and small group sessions to help them: – Get clear on direction and career fit – Understand what drives their performance – Build structure and systems that support consistent performance in new environments This work is grounded in the belief that many challenges after sport aren’t about motivation but about learning how to operate without the structure sport once provided. I also host a small, private community for former athletes focused on building structure, accountability, and connection as they navigate life and performance after sport.
