About Dione

ABOUT ME - STANFORD BA/MBA, EXPERT CAREER & ADMISSIONS COACH, PRO WRITER/MARKETER I’m a Stanford BA/MBA alum, with admissions experience and over a decade of coaching hundreds (!) of applicants through every step of their application journey. My clients are diverse and talented: they're living around the world, have studied at public and private schools and worked iin both traditional and uncommon roles at companies ranging from startups to multinational companies across a range of industries. My professional background is similarly varied, global and non-traditional. I've worked in multiple industries and functions and countries, including tech, finance, communications, startups. I love to travel and am a big believer in the critical needs for leaders and organizations to "think globally, act locally" -- this has led me to both work and live in the US, Europe and Asia and to enjoy supporting clients from around the world. Continuously meeting interesting people and learning about different cultures and communities, emerging opportunities and promising approaches to solving problems big and small are some of the reasons I love admissions coaching. In the process, I get to leverage my professional experience in marketing, tech, communications, startups, strategy, international business operations and partner development to helping clients to explore and pursue their goals. As a result, my clients are able to confidently and powerfully communicate who they are, how they "show up" and think, act and inspire others. DEMONSTRATED TRACK RECORD WORKING WITH DIVERSE CLIENTS: Every year, I'm thrilled to celebrate the admission of my clients to their dream schools. My clients are wonderfully talented and come from all walks of life -- every individual and every application is different. Do all of my clients love to write about themselves and have “perfect profiles”? Not at all! Many have taken significant risks, followed non-traditional academic and career paths, and have pursued uncommon experiences. Together, we embark on a "treasure hunt" to discover and shine a light on gems (uncommon, meaningful and unique experiences and accomplishments) that differentiate them. One thing my clients do share is a give-it-their-all commitment to working together, which I also promise to bring to our partnership. I'm passionate about providing experienced, personalized admissions and career coaching. Doing so is not a "side gig," and requires a commitment and passion for understanding what it takes to be a compelling applicant. Clients benefit from: - Experience gained from supporting hundreds of clients for more than a decade. - Stanford admissions experience (first hand knowledge of what it's like reading applications, and what differentiates compelling applicants - Professional membership - an extended network of colleagues with deep admissions experiences who I can tap - Professional writing, marketing and career services coaching.I know that it's never right to assume that what may have been true for one person at one time when applying to schools holds true today. - Stanford BA/MBA. Phi Beta Kappa - involved alumna who follows higher education I never assume that what's been true in higher ed admissions in the past will continue to be true, or that just because someone's been accepted to a highly selective school in the past means that's what it'll take for others to realize similar success. Every applicant (you!) and every school is different, so it's essential to craft an applicant that is authentic, compelling, self-aware and differentiated. MY APPROACH/"FIT": Candid, curious, collaborative, creative and determined, I enjoy working with applicants who are open to exploring possibilities, self-aware, and welcome being challenged. I consider myself lucky to support clients who aspire to positively impact others and the world. I love to be surprised, to laugh, to inspire my clients and in turn, to be inspired. WHAT TO EXPECT: Admissions to selective schools is extremely competitive. I maintain high standards and enjoy working with diverse clients who do so too. My clients have gained acceptance to a diverse range of schools, including Stanford, the Ivies, and other top universities. As my former clients have attested: they worked hard and learned so much more about themselves than they ever expected over the course of our “application journey.” I'm truly proud of my clients' track record of success in applying to a range of excellent schools.

Why do I coach?

The first in my family to graduate from college, I am lucky to have found my calling in "paying it forward" by helping others to achieve their educational and career goals. Working with clients is a mix of life coaching, writing coaching, and career coaching -- every client is different, and I'm energized by the challenge -- and opportunity -- to help them clarify their goals, identify their strengths, and share their stories. .I understand that not every client looks forward to tackling application essays and that the process can feel daunting. As an experienced editor, writer and writing coach, I enjoy helping clients approach the writing process with less stress and greater confidence, authenticity and creativity -- yes, essay writing can be hard work, but also thought provoking, rewarding and confidence building. Admissions coaching is not a "side gig." Unlike many coaches, I do this full-time. Higher ed admissions is complex and continuously changing. That's why I invest the time to stay on top of the dynamics and challenges that may impact my clients. My focus enables me to deliver responsive, dedicated support to a select number of clients -- few enough to ensure I provide personalized, high-touch support yet a large enough number of individuals so that I have current, firsthand experience working with diverse clients who are representative of the greater pool of applicants who are also applying. Everyone can benefit from knowing about applicants who are similar and different from them. Admissions committees seek to shake the most dynamic, talented, interesting and diverse class comprised of applicants who could be quite similar to you or very different. Beyond working directly with consulting clients, I invest time by participating in an active member of educational consulting professional organizations, and continuously tracking changes and requirements in higher ed, researching career pathways, and gaining insights. I am an active Stanford alumna, including serving as a class secretary, cofounder of alumni programs, pro bono consultant, member of the GSB Asian Alumni Chapter leadership team spearheading DEI initiatives, admissions interviewer, and one of <2% of all Stanford alumni inducted to Stanford’s honorary organization for alumni volunteers.
