Hi there! My name is Avi and I have taught the GMAT/GRE for 18 years. More importantly, I have written actual questions for the test and know the hidden patterns and strategies that I can teach you in order to be successful. For those who have math anxiety and/or test taking anxiety in general, I also address the psychological aspects of the test. My students are typically ones who are targeting the top schools and need a score in the 90th percentile and above. In my years teaching standardized tests, what I have found important is to provide students with a clear and customized syllabus of exactly what they ought to be doing between our private sessions. I do that using my own materials that I have written and developed. This means you will be practicing with realistic GMAT questions that reflect what you will see on the actual exam, NOT random busy work. I also specialize in Math 'Fraidy Cats. Been a while since you took a math course? Are you terrified at the prospect of seeing horrific words such as 'fractions' or 'algebra'? Rest easy...I teach GMAT/GRE strategy, NOT math. With my approach, you won't have to revisit four years of high school math. The verbal is an equally diabolical section with plenty of strategies I have devised over my years crafting questions for the exam and teaching them to my students. Have you already tried studying on your own but find yourself just spinning your wheels? The GMAT is a sophisticated exams that take an expert to show you the game they're playing. I not only teach you the strategies to succeed; we also address test taking anxiety (a real thing!), how to pace and time yourself, as well as a structured plan to study so you don't have to wonder what to do between our sessions. I am more than a GMAT tutor. Check my reviews on Leland and Yelp. I am a relationship-driven partner, and when you cross that GMAT finish line with your 725, I'll be the first to meet you with a big hug and a hearty congrats! I can't wait to help you reach your goal score. P.S. A note about my prices. They are non-negotiable. I am not the cheapest GMAT/GRE tutor. I know that. There are other tutors that compete on price. I don't. I compete on quality. Top scores for ambitious students looking to crack the 700+ land, and gain admission to M7 programs. Please note, my schedule fills up rather quickly, especially between the months of August and April (application season), so reach out and I will tell you if I am taking on more clients. Best to all of you!! -Avi

About Avi

My name is Avi and I have devoted most of my career to helping applicants realize their dream of being admitted to their top school. I do that by bringing my experience behind the scenes in admissions, using my experience as a professional writer and editor at the LA Times and a life spent in the world of higher education. I am not the cheapest consultant because I do not take on many clients. Those I do take on get my full and undivided attention. We spend countless hours together getting to know you and your story so that I can help you pull out key elements of both to create a narrative that wows (!) the admissions committee. I am more than an editor. I guide you through the often confusing application process and help you to develop a narrative strategy that will work uniquely for each school. That means customizing your resume, strategically helping you to select schools, taking a deep dive into who you are so that when we develop your narrative branding strategy, we have multifaceted stories to draw from. We go through many draft revisions together and will not stop until we get it perfect. This applies to resume overhaul, personal statement, supplementary essays, letter of recommendation consultation and, finally, mock interview prep. I specialize in MBA/grad school applicants and high school students applying to Top 25 schools and the Ivies. I only take on 20-25 clients per season, as I prefer to give each client the extra attention required to submit successful applications and keep my success rate among the highest in the industry (92% of clients admitted to one of their top 3 schools). As I said, I am certainly not the cheapest. But if you are looking for the royal treatment and want to work with the best in the business, don't leave anything to chance--I know the admissions game better than anyone and I would be thrilled to help you navigate its tricky waters. I look forward to helping you get accepted to your dream program!

Why do I coach?

I love taking applicants with high goals for college admission and turning them into reality. I do that by helping them to discover--and uncover--aspects of their personal and professional history that they often overlook. In other cases, I help to accentuate elements of their stories that they would not have thought of. I am more than an editor--I am a coach, a confidant and, above all, a committed partner.
