Work with Chang
About
During my five years at McKinsey, I was an interviewer: I interviewed 150+ candidates, sat in the debriefs where offers are decided, and wrote the notes that made the case for or against each one. Before that, I was on the other side of the table while getting my MBA from Kellogg, and received offers from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, and PwC Strategy& in a single recruiting cycle. I coach both halves of the interview. For the case: a purpose built framework, creative insights, clear math, and a recommendation that lands. For fit: McKinsey's PEI, Bain and BCG's behavioral questions, and "why consulting, why this firm", built into stories an interviewer remembers and can defend in the debrief. I also help developing your networking strategy and how you should present yourself to help you gain sponsors during the recruiting process so that you can land the interview.

Chang has helped clients get into these companies:
I've sat on both sides of the table. As a Kellogg MBA I recruited for consulting and received offers from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, and PwC. I then spent five years at McKinsey in San Francisco, where I was a case interviewer and left as an Engagement Manager. I know exactly what the interviewer is writing down, where candidates lose points in the first ten minutes, and what separates a "maybe" from a "yes." I also came to consulting from a non-traditional background. I started as an engineer at Shell, so I know what it takes to switch careers and learn the case format from scratch. My sessions are real interview practice, not lectures. We run a live case the way a McKinsey or BCG interviewer would, then I give you specific, honest feedback: what worked, what didn't, and the one or two habits that will move your score most. I also prepare candidates for the McKinsey Personal Experience Interview, which is where many strong casers lose the offer.

Engagement Manager

July 2023 - March 2026
Interviewer
Five years at McKinsey in San Francisco, leaving as an Engagement Manager. Interviewed candidates for McKinsey as a trained case interviewer, so I know exactly what the interviewer is listening for and how the score is decided. As an Engagement Manager, I led client teams and coached new consultants on structuring problems, working with data, and presenting to senior clients. Selected as a McKinsey Center for Future Mobility Scholar.

Three and a half years in upstream natural gas production, across three roles: Operations Engineer, Facilities Engineer, and Technical Safety Engineer.
