Build a Competitive College Profile: Grades 9–10

Jacob S.
By Jacob S.Expert Admissions Coach

A compelling college profile is developed intentionally throughout high school—not assembled during senior year. This 12-month coaching program helps students in grades 9–10 make thoughtful academic, extracurricular, and personal-development decisions that strengthen their future college options. Through personalized monthly coaching, students will identify their interests and strengths, establish meaningful goals, and build a strategic plan for the remainder of high school. Rather than encouraging students to collect activities for the sake of a résumé, I help them pursue authentic interests with greater depth, initiative, leadership, and impact. This package includes: - Twelve 60-minute private student coaching sessions - Personalized academic and extracurricular strategy - Course-selection and academic-positioning guidance - Leadership and extracurricular-development planning - Passion-project exploration and development - Research, internship, volunteer, and enrichment guidance - Summer planning and opportunity recommendations - Testing strategy and timeline guidance - Preliminary college and academic-program exploration - Development or refinement of the student’s résumé - Goal setting, accountability, and progress monitoring - Written meeting summaries and actionable next steps - Brief email support between scheduled sessions The student’s strategy will evolve throughout the engagement based on their progress, developing interests, academic performance, and long-term goals.

This package is delivered over 12 months through one private, 60-minute virtual student coaching session each month, along with quarterly parent strategy check-ins. My coaching style is strategic, candid, supportive, and highly personalized. I combine extensive college admissions experience with professional training in school counseling to help students develop competitive profiles that remain authentic to their interests and goals. We will begin by assessing the student’s current academic and extracurricular profile, interests, strengths, and potential areas for growth. From there, we will create a personalized strategy and revisit it throughout the year as the student progresses and new opportunities emerge. Each student session concludes with clear, manageable action items, followed by a written summary. Brief questions are welcome by email between meetings and will generally receive a response within two business days. Parents will remain informed through quarterly check-ins while the student is encouraged to develop independence, accountability, and ownership of the process.

Expert Admissions Coach

I’m a college admissions strategist and school counselor with nearly a decade of experience helping students turn their interests, experiences, and ambitions into thoughtful plans for college and beyond. Before founding Stewart Educational Consulting, I served as Head Educational Strategist at a national college admissions consulting firm, where I led and coached a team of strategists while advising students and families navigating highly selective admissions. Throughout my career, I have supported hundreds of students, reviewed hundreds of applications annually, and contributed to outcomes including Ivy League acceptances and Top 20 universities. My approach combines strategic admissions expertise with a foundation in counseling. I help students strengthen their academic and extracurricular positioning, develop balanced college lists, manage the application process, and create personal statements and supplemental essays that genuinely reflect who they are. I believe the best coaching provides more than a polished application. It gives students clarity, accountability, and the confidence to take ownership of their story. My goal is to make an often-overwhelming process feel organized, purposeful, and manageable for both students and their families.
