Data Governance & Accountability Reset

Is everyone using data — but no one fully owns it? Do different teams report different versions of the truth? Are data quality issues repeatedly discussed, but rarely resolved at the root? And does governance feel either too heavy to adopt or too weak to create accountability? This is where many data programs lose momentum. The problem is not always technology. It is often ownership. Who defines the metric? Who approves the source? Who fixes quality issues? Who decides when a data element is good enough for reporting, automation, or AI? Who is accountable when decisions are made from the wrong number? Without clear answers, data governance becomes either a policy document or a recurring frustration. The real question is not, “Do we need more governance?” The better question is: What level of governance will create trust, accountability, and speed without adding unnecessary friction? The Data Governance & Accountability Reset is designed for leaders whose analytics value is being weakened by unclear ownership, inconsistent definitions, quality gaps, or fragmented accountability. Across the five sessions, we review governance maturity, data ownership, definitions, stewardship, escalation paths, quality controls, and operating behaviours. We look at where governance is missing. Where it is overcomplicated. Where accountability is unclear. Where data issues repeatedly surface. And what governance rhythm is practical enough for the organization to actually use. You will walk away with a governance gap diagnosis, ownership and stewardship model, critical data definition priorities, quality escalation pathways, and a practical 60-day governance reset plan. This is not about creating a bureaucratic data council. It is not about slowing the business in the name of control. It is about creating enough structure for leaders to trust the data, teams to know their responsibilities, and AI or analytics initiatives to scale without constant rework. Because governance only works when it is clear enough to follow and useful enough to matter.

Session Plan • Session 1: Governance context, pain points, and maturity diagnosis. • Session 2: Data ownership, stewardship, and definition gaps. • Session 3: Quality issues, escalation paths, and accountability design. • Session 4: Governance rituals, decision rights, and adoption risks. • Session 5: 60-day governance reset plan. How I work with clients I work with clients by starting with clarity, not assumptions. Whether the challenge is a career transition, a leadership inflection point, a technology decision, or an organizational transformation, my first task is to understand what is really going on beneath the surface. Often, the visible issue is only a symptom. The real constraint may be unclear priorities, weak alignment, outdated operating rhythms, gaps in leadership identity, or decisions that have not yet been made with enough precision. My approach combines structured inquiry, real-world executive experience, and practical strategy. I do not believe in generic frameworks, motivational advice, or one-size-fits-all playbooks. Each engagement is shaped around the client’s context, goals, constraints, and stage of growth. Together, we diagnose the real pattern, challenge assumptions, surface blind spots, and translate insight into action. For individuals, that may mean strengthening leadership presence, reframing career value, or navigating the shift from technical expertise to strategic influence. For organizations, it may mean aligning leadership, clarifying decision rights, strengthening operating models, or turning transformation intent into executable movement. The work is both rigorous and human. There is strategic structure, but also space for reflection, identity shifts, trust-building, and the deeper leadership work required for lasting change. The goal is not just to create a plan. The goal is to help clients see clearly, decide wisely, and move forward with confidence.

  • A governance maturity and accountability diagnosis covering ownership, definitions, quality, stewardship, and escalation.
  • critical data ownership map clarifying who defines, approves, fixes, and governs key data assets.
  • A metric and definition alignment view to reduce conflicting versions of truth across functions.
  • A practical data quality and issue escalation model for recurring reporting, analytics, and AI risks.
  • A 60-day governance reset plan with rituals, roles, decision rights, and adoption recommendations.

For more than 30 years, I built my career across global organizations, including Deloitte, KPMG, Rolta, and Amazon Web Services. I built and scaled teams, led large transformation programs, and sat in rooms with senior leaders trying to make hard decisions under real pressure. From the outside, it looked like a straight line up. It wasn't. There were stretches where I felt stuck behind a title that no longer fit, moments when I had to start over, and quieter periods where I wasn't sure what "next" was supposed to mean. I rarely said any of that out loud. Most people in those rooms don't. That experience is why I started Journey Redefined. I work as a career and leadership coach for people at the turning points that matter: a promotion that stalled, a leadership role that feels heavier than expected, a pivot they can't quite name yet. I bring both sides of the table to that work, the lived experience of having led, and the discipline of structured coaching as an ICF-ACC certified coach. I'm not interested in quick fixes or advice you could find anywhere. My work is quieter than that. It's about helping you reconnect with what you're genuinely good at, make decisions you can stand behind, and define success on terms that are actually yours.
