Foundational Clarity Intensive - come to grips with what truly matters
The Foundational Clarity Intensive is designed for professionals in startups, established organizations, or those in transitions who are seeking to quickly gain profound self-awareness and a clear sense of direction. Through three (3) remote coaching sessions, and some personal exercises to be done at your convenience, you will achieve the following things: * Come to grips with what will truly matter to you at the end of your lifetime * Candidly examine your current situation with its challenges and opportunities * Articulate a personal and professional vision for yourself 3 years from today I will help you to reflect deeply on what matters most to you, which will enable you to make more intentional decisions regarding how you invest your time and attention, which in turn will help you navigate your ventures with renewed clarity and conviction. While this program focuses on core dialogue and insight, it sets the stage for further actionable growth. If you choose to continue to work with me, a common next step after this will be to specify the obstacles that lie between where you are today, and where you aim to be in 3 years.
What's included
To kick things off, I'll provide you with an onboarding form, asking about the basics of your situation. In the live sessions, the main focus will be for me to actively listen, and to truly hear you. I'll reflect and inquire with curiosity and acceptance. We'll typically end a session by agreeing on some next steps, which will often include exercises or resources for you to work through before the next session. In order to understand my listen-first approach, here's a bit more about me... I value relationships above transactions, I believe our attention is the fundamental currency of our lives, and I believe in describing to ourselves the things we appreciate, and the things we fear. Three things I appreciate: my life, my health, and my attention. Three things I fear: the increasing contempt and violence in our public discourse, artificial super intelligence, and disappointing my wife and daughters.
- a short set of values, and corresponding roles that constitute who you are at your core
- a candid written assessment of your circumstances in this current moment
- a detailed and specific vision of the life you aim to live 3 years from now

Forge a Meaningful Life | Stanford PhD | Hardware Startup Director
Hi, I’m Whitfield Fowler, though most people call me Whit. I’ve played many roles in my life, and I bring all of them to the table as a coach. I'm a husband of 18 years, a father of 2 daughters, and at heart, I’m a midwestern kid from Minneapolis who grew up loving art, math, and sports. As a high school athlete, I learned first hand how great coaching often leads to great results. Specifically, our soccer team won the MN state high school championship in 1995 (go Spartans) due in large part to the passion and systematic approaches of our fantastic coach. High school is also where I first understood that I need physical activities and creative outlets for my mind to truly focus—a principle that guides my holistic approach today. My identity as a scholar took root at St. Olaf College, where I studied Physics and Liberal Arts. It then flourished at Stanford University, where I earned my PhD and MS in the Design Division of Mechanical Engineering. Immersed in structured methods for product definition and decision analysis, I discovered a lifelong love of learning and the incredible power of curiosity to solve complex problems through a process of making predictions and then measurements from tests and prototypes. For the last 15 years, I’ve been a "Hardware Startup Guy," leading engineering and operations teams as a Director at four different companies. I’ve lived the chaos of the early days, navigating the vast gap between good ideas and profitable businesses. I know the pressures of short runways, massive uncertainties, and the constant balancing act of leadership. Finally, I am a World Traveler. My work and studies have taken me to Europe, the Middle East, Northern Africa, India, China, and Japan. Interacting with people across these cultures revealed a deep sense of our shared humanity and reinforced my core belief that relationships matter far more than transactions. Each of these roles—husband, dad, athlete, scholar, startup leader, and traveler—has shaped the unique perspective I bring to my coaching.
