MBA Target School Recon Package for Military & Veterans Applicants
This package is designed for military and veteran applicants who want to build a highly specific, realistic application strategy. Selecting the wrong schools can lead to wasted effort, but choosing the right ones requires moving past surface-level marketing. We will leverage an intelligence-driven approach to uncover the ground truth of each program, evaluate your competitive standing, and ensure you target schools where you will truly thrive. Our school selection reconnaissance will focus on: - Decoding True School Culture: We will move past the generic, "vanilla" reasons often cited in MBA applications—like "the alumni network" or "learning core finance." Instead, we will dig into the actual DNA, academic environment, and student dynamics of each program to see how it aligns with your personal and professional style. - Targeted Reconnaissance (HUMINT & SIGINT): We will deploy a dual-source approach to gather unfiltered data on top programs. You will use SIGINT (AI-enable research analyzing class profiles, career reports, and the specific footprint of each school’s Veterans Club) and HUMINT (conducting targeted briefings with current veteran students and recent alumni) to find out what life on campus is really like. - Adcom Intentions & Admissions Truths: Every admissions committee looks for something slightly different in their military cohort. We will analyze exactly what specific traits, leadership styles, and profiles each top-tier program prioritizes when evaluating veteran applicants. - Objective Competitive Profile Matching: We will conduct a rigorous gap analysis, matching your specific operational achievements, undergraduate GPA, and test scores against historical benchmarks to realistically evaluate your competitiveness at top-tier programs.
What's included
I use a hybrid coaching model that blends collaborative, face-to-face video calls with asynchronous review. I intentionally front-load the engagement with live video sessions so we can dive deep into your unique background and solidify your overarching narrative. Once that foundation is built, we shift to a flexible, asynchronous workflow focused rapid iteration and information synthesis.
- A Finalized Tiered Target School List: A customized portfolio of schools categorized into clear tiers (Reach, Match, and Safety) optimized for your unique profile, post-MBA career goals, and the availability of GI Bill benefits.
- The "Ground Truth" Culture Dossier: A compiled set of specific, school-by-school insights gathered from your intelligence mapping. This gives you concrete, non-generic details about campus culture, professors, experiential learning opportunities, and clubs to weave directly into your essays.
- A Competitive Profile & Readiness Assessment: An objective evaluation of your current application strength relative to each school’s standards, identifying your key competitive advantages as a veteran and highlighting any vulnerabilities (like quant background or test scores) with a tactical plan to mitigate them.
- School-Specific Narrative Angles: A strategic blueprint that maps your primary military achievements to the core values of each target program (e.g., tailoring your narrative to align with Stanford’s focus on personal impact vs. HBS's focus on leadership case studies).

Military & Vet Applicants | 10+ T15 Admits | Army SOF Vet | Stanford MBA/MS
I graduated from Cornell during the financial crisis, which derailed my plans to go into finance but turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise. Instead of spending my 20s crunching spreadsheets in a cubicle, I tried out for the Army Special Forces and was assigned to 1st SFG, where I deployed to Iraq and the Philippines and conducted joint training exercises in South Korea and Thailand. As my team's communications sergeant, I became fascinated by the technology that we were using and spent my free time on deployments writing code and learning about radio waves and cryptography. That led me to quantum computers and the threat they posed to the cryptographic protocols that we rely on to keep our communications safe. Determined to understand the science of quantum computers, I deferred my admission to Stanford GSB to complete a second undergraduate major in physics at Columbia. At Stanford, I combined an MBA with an MS in EE and interned at a Rigetti Computing to get hands-on exposure to the technical and business challenges of the emerging quantum computing industry. During that period, I also explored my interest in finance with internships at Goldman Sachs, Bridgewater, and Virtu Financial. After graduating, I took a job in venture capital at Khosla Ventures, which was the perfect way to merge my interests in technology and finance. At KV, I supported over $1B in new financings and a portfolio of over 60 startups, many of them in deep tech. Since leaving Khosla, I've become a full-time coach, working primarily with founders at early-stage startups and executives navigating life and career transitions. I'm a strong believer in the power of meditation to balance the nervous system and build self-awareness. I started meditating while in the Army to help manage stress and have been practicing regularly ever since.
