How dual degree costs work:

• MD/MBA students. You pay Fuqua's standard tuition in your first year, because you are registered only at Fuqua that year.

Duke MBA Application Deadlines (2026-27)

Duke Fuqua has four Daytime MBA deadlines for 2026–27. They are Early Action on September 2, 2026, Round 1 on September 30, 2026, Round 2 on January 5, 2027, and Round 3 on March 25, 2027. Early Action is binding. There is no Round 4 this cycle. Consortium applicants follow separate deadlines of October 15 and January 5.

Which Round Should You Apply In?

• Early Action. Best if Fuqua is your clear first choice. The decision is binding. If you are admitted, you must withdraw your other applications. Early Action applicants also qualify for a full application fee waiver.
• Round 1. A strong choice if you are ready early but want to keep your options open. Fuqua encourages reapplicants to apply in Early Action or Round 1.
• Round 2. Gives you more time to refine your essays and raise your test score. It is still an option for international applicants.
• Round 3. The final round of the cycle. All Round 3 interviews are virtual.

Fuqua considers applicants in every round for merit scholarships, with no separate application.

Duke MBA Requirements

To apply to the Duke Fuqua Daytime MBA, you submit an online application with unofficial transcripts, a one-page resume, one short answer and two required essays, one letter of recommendation, a GMAT, GRE, or EA score, and a $225 application fee. Interviews are by invitation only. Fuqua does not require a minimum test score or minimum work experience.

Transcripts

Upload legible, scanned unofficial transcripts for each college or university where you:

• Earned, or will earn, a degree before the program starts.
• Took classes related to your graduate study interests.

Transcript guidelines:

• Each transcript must show your name, the institution's name, each course and grade, and the degree and date conferred.
• If your transcript does not show the degree and date, upload a copy of your diploma as well.
• If your transcript is not in English, it must be translated and attested, and uploaded along with the original.
• If study-abroad or transfer grades and course names appear on your degree-granting school's transcript, you don't need a separate transcript. If they don't appear, upload a transcript from the original institution.
• Pass/fail courses still need documentation from the institution.

• Share "25 Random Things" about you that go beyond your resume and transcript. You can include life experiences, hobbies, achievements, or fun facts.
• Present your response as a numbered list from 1 to 25. Some points can be brief and others longer.

Second required essay. The Fuqua Community and You (1 page, 500 words max)

• Based on your understanding of Fuqua's culture, what are 3 ways you expect to contribute at Fuqua?

Optional essay. Tell Us More (1 page, 500 words max)

• Explain circumstances the admissions committee should know about. Examples include unexplained work gaps, your choice of recommender, or inconsistent academic performance.
• Don't upload extra essays or recommendations here.

Formatting rules for all essays:

• Use 1.5-line spacing and a font size of at least 10 points.
• Don't repeat the question in your uploaded document. Fuqua's plagiarism software will flag it.

Duke Fuqua AI Policy for Applications

Fuqua lets you use tools like Grammarly or ChatGPT to support editing and clarity. Your ideas, experiences, and responses must be your own. Fuqua says AI should help refine your content instead of generating it.

• All essays are scanned with plagiarism detection software. Essays may also be reviewed with AI-detection tools.
• Submissions that rely heavily on AI-generated content, misrepresent you, or are written by someone else may hurt your evaluation. They may also violate the Fuqua Honor Code.
• Using content from websites, other applicants, consultants, or AI without attribution counts as plagiarism.
• If you work with an admissions consultant, discuss the Honor Code policy with them. Your essays should never be shared with other applicants.

1-Page Business Resume

Upload your one-page resume in the online application. For each job or volunteer role, list the location, title, dates, and responsibilities, starting with the most recent. Your education section should include dates of attendance and degrees received.

Letters of Recommendation

Requirement. New applicants submit one letter of recommendation.

Guidelines:

• Choose someone from your most recent professional setting who knows your professional skills well. A volunteer or service role you are deeply involved in can also be a strong source.
• Recommendations from relatives and friends are strongly discouraged.
• Academic recommendations tend to repeat what your transcript shows and are less helpful.
• Use your recommender's work email address, not a personal account, for credential verification.
• Your recommender must use the forms in the online application. Fuqua does not accept recommendations by email or mail.

Recommendation form questions:

1. Briefly describe your interaction with the applicant and, if applicable, the applicant's role in your organization.
2. How does the applicant's performance compare with other well-qualified individuals in similar roles?
3. Describe the most important constructive feedback you have given the applicant, including the circumstances and the applicant's response.

Endorsements from Fuqua students or alumni. You can add optional endorsements from current Fuqua students or alumni. If an endorsement is submitted before you apply, you become eligible for an application fee reduction.

Full fee waiver. You may qualify if you meet one of these criteria:

• You attend a campus visit or open house before applying.

• You are a participant or alum of Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Teach for America, or the Teach For All network.

To claim a discount or waiver, complete the "Application Fee Information" section of the online application before you submit. Fuqua cannot refund fees if you skip this step.

Interview Process

How interviews work:

• Interviews are by invitation only, and invitations go out on a rolling basis.
• Every admitted applicant must interview before receiving an offer.
• The timing of your invitation has no bearing on your evaluation.
• Alumni, admissions staff, or trained second-year students called Admissions Fellows conduct interviews.
• On-campus, in-person interviews are available in Early Action, Round 1, and Round 2.
• Off-campus interviews are mostly virtual and available in every round. Round 3 interviews are virtual only.
• Fuqua values every interview equally, whatever the format or interviewer.
• Your interviewer sees only your resume and has not read your application.
• Interviews are in English, generally last 45–60 minutes, and call for business casual attire.

Reapplicants

Reapplicants must submit:

• Short-answer question

• Reapplicant essay
• One letter of recommendation. You can reuse last year's letter, and you may add one new letter if you wish.

Duke Fuqua MBA Curriculum & Class Structure

The Duke Fuqua Daytime MBA starts with a summer term of three core courses, then moves into four 6-week terms each year. First-year students complete their core courses and begin electives in the spring. Second-year students take about three electives per term. You can add up to two concentrations, or one concentration plus a certificate.
