I first met Samar in 2013 as a participant in the Stanford Summer Research Program (SSRP), where she served as Program Coordinator. At the time, I was an undergraduate student from Uriangato, Mexico, at the University of North Texas. I therefore found myself navigating an unfamiliar world with big dreams and a lot of uncertainty. Samar didn't just coordinate a program; she invested in me as a person. Her support went far beyond logistics. She made sure I had every resource I needed to thrive, helped me navigate the transition from undergrad research into the graduate world, and made me believe that Stanford wasn't just a place I was visiting, but a place I belonged. That confidence was foundational. That summer changed everything. I went on to earn my Ph.D. from Stanford University, conducted research at Apple, Tesla, and other leading institutions, and am now an Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Queen Mary University of London. None of that trajectory is imaginable without Samar. She is warm, tireless, and deeply committed to her students' long-term success.

Sahil makes for a fantastic mentor because of his ability to listen. Once he knows what motivates a person, Sahil identifies strengths of character and builds an application grounded in personhood. It's through his empathy that I felt like I better understood myself as an applicant and future provider, and I truly believe that made all the difference when I went in for interviews.

I am honored to write a statement vouching for Justin Passman. Justin was one of my first mentors in medical school, even before I started my first year, and I can confidently say that he has been a major part of my success. I believe that I speak for all of the students mentored by Justin that he is an extremely supportive mentor who proactively helps mentees with problems that they might encounter, as well as being highly responsive to time-sensitive and individual concerns of his mentees. During my STEP 1 preparation, Justin was very helpful in helping me prepare a study plan and identify which resources to use and not to use. I am certain that I would not have felt as prepared for the exam as I did without Justin’s help. Justin was also instrumental in helping me navigate research and clinical opportunities during the first year of medical school, and these opportunities have allowed me to flourish in ways I could not have foreseen. This and countless other interactions with Justin during the first two years of my medical school journey give me to confidence to wholeheartedly recommend him as a coach. Any aspiring medical student or current student will surely benefit for his fund of knowledge, generous personality and consistent support. Just as Justin has helped me and others, I am certain that he will be an asset to Leland and his future mentees.

Harkirat tutored me a few years ago while I was preparing my college applications, and I can confidently say he was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable throughout the entire process.
